The Minister of Education inaugurates the 2023 Arab School Football Championship with the participation of 11 Arab countries
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, opened the activities of the 2023 Arab School Football Championship (boys-girls), which is organized by the Egyptian School Sports Federation, in cooperation with the Arab Federation for Physical Education and School Sports, and which Egypt is hosting during the period from 17 to 27 November. In football and swimming, at the Police Sports Union Club.
The tournament comes under the patronage of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education and President of the Egyptian Federation for School Sports, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, with the participation of teams from (11) Arab countries, namely the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Lebanon. The Kingdom of Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, and the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the State of Palestine.
This came in the presence of Dr. Idris Fathi, Secretary General of the Arab Union, Dr. Iman Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities and Vice President of the Arab Union for Physical Education and School Sports, Dr. Amr Al-Haddad, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Captain Tamer Fikry, Director of the Championship, Dr. Sonia Donia, Member of the Supreme Committee of the Championship, and Gentlemen. Members of the Arab Federation for Physical Education and School Sports, members of the Egyptian Federation for School Sports, and heads of participating delegations.
At the beginning of his speech during the opening of the tournament activities, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, welcomed all the attendees from the Arab world to Egypt, thanking them for their participation in the 2023 Arab School Football Championship (boys/girls), which is organized by the Egyptian Federation. For school sports, in cooperation with the Arab Federation for Physical Education and School Sports, with the participation of teams from (11) Arab countries, including the State of Palestine, which was directed to include a team from the Palestinian community residing in Egypt, given the tragic circumstances that beloved Palestine is going through, making it impossible for a team from within it to participate. And treating her team like the Egyptian team in all aspects.
The Minister said that the aim of this event is not only to win medals and to ascend to the podium, but rather to enhance acquaintance, brotherhood and bonding between all participating children.
Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that the opening of the tournament comes out of belief in the importance of practicing sports, especially school sports, which plays a prominent and effective role in building the student’s personality by developing his athletic abilities and talents, in addition to its effective role in modifying and changing his behavior in a way that is commensurate with the values of society, pointing out that This sincere belief in the importance of school sports and conscious interest in it is reflected in the political leadership. The President of the Republic, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, stressed the importance of the need for a program in which sports are part of education to preserve the health of students.
The Minister pointed out that one of the most important positive roles of physical education and school sports in the lives of students is its role in refining their personalities and raising them in an education based on the acquisition of knowledge, skills and sporting competencies. It also gives them healthy and preventive habits and achieves psychological and emotional balance, thus sparing them the scourge of deviance and extremism. It helps them study and achieve.
He added that receiving education and practicing sports activities within educational institutions are two essential factors in building the desired personality, which all Arab governments seek to work on formulating, in a way that is commensurate with the givens of the times, that personality capable of dealing with the givens of the knowledge society and building the desired personality.
The Minister directed the students to work hard, stressing that they are the leaders of tomorrow and the champions of the future, stressing the fair competition that highlights qualified sports competencies to ascend to the podium in various forums.
The Minister extended sincere greetings and appreciation to all employees of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for their close cooperation in organizing this tournament. He also thanked the Egyptian School Sports Federation and the tournament organizing committee for the tireless effort and continuous work to organize this tournament to graduate. In this honorable way.
The Minister also welcomed the Arab delegations participating in their second country, Egypt, wishing everyone continued success.
For his part, Dr. Idris Fathi Fakhr, Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Physical Education and School Sports, expressed the Arab Federation’s pride in the cooperation of the Ministries of Education, Youth, and Sports in what they have done in the last five years to fully embrace and provide all means of success for the Arab Federation for Physical Education and School Sports, adding that the Republic of Egypt Arabic is considered one of the prominent founders of the federation and the development of its activities to employ sports in sound physical education for Arab students.
In her speech, Dr. Iman Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities and Vice President of the Union, affirmed that the Arab School Championship has always been a good occasion for the gathering of Arab brothers, and a unique opportunity for dialogue, consultation, and sports competition under the slogan of sportsmanship, and that whatever the name of the winner, there is no loser among them, but rather everyone is a winner. One of the many gains of this large Arab gathering.
Dr. Iman Hassan thanked Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for their generous sponsorship of the Arab School Football and Swimming Championships, and their constant keenness to support school sports sincerely, out of concern for generations whose motto is study and sports, side by side. They produce mature, developed minds who present unused ideas that contribute to the progress of our Arab nation.
During the opening ceremony, the Minister and the participating delegations witnessed the male and female students presenting sports and artistic performances. They also witnessed the opening match that was held between the Egyptian team and the Kuwaiti team.
