The Minister of Education holds a meeting with leaders of the General Authority for Educational Buildings
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting with leaders of the General Authority for Educational Buildings to follow up on the implementation of the Authority's plan for ongoing preparations for the new school year and review the implementation status of ongoing educational projects.
The meeting was attended by Major General Yosry Salem, Assistant Minister for General Authority for Educational Buildings Affairs; Dr. Ahmed El-Mohammadi, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning and Follow-up and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Minister's Office Affairs; and leaders of the General Authority for Educational Buildings.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of completing all comprehensive and minor maintenance work in schools across the governorates by the end of this week, including classroom maintenance, as well as renovation and beautification of school buildings. He emphasized full adherence to the specified timetable and ensuring all necessary supplies are provided to prepare schools for the arrival of students.
The Minister also reviewed the maintenance and equipment of school desks, noting that the Ministry is closely monitoring progress on a daily basis, in coordination with the governorate education directorates, to ensure the completion of all work before the start of the school year. He emphasized that the Ministry is sparing no effort in overcoming any obstacles that may hinder the implementation of the plan.
The Minister emphasized the importance of placing the flagpole in each school according to the established technical specifications, ensuring its proper appearance, reflecting the nation's pride and its citizens' pride in their national identity. He emphasized the need to adhere to the approved standards to preserve the civilized appearance of schools and foster a sense of belonging among students.
For his part, Major General Yasser Salem, Assistant Minister for Educational Buildings Affairs at the General Authority for Educational Buildings, reviewed the Authority's position on implementing several projects, including the construction of approximately 7,000 classrooms during the 2024/2025 fiscal year, to accommodate 280,000 students. He noted that work is currently underway to establish projects comprising approximately 20,000 classrooms, with delivery expected during the next fiscal year. These projects serve all governorates and all educational levels.
During the meeting, expansion projects for the construction of Egyptian-Japanese schools were reviewed, with 14 schools having been completed and set to enter service during the current 2025/2026 academic year.
