The Minister of Education issues a ministerial decision)

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, issued Ministerial Resolution No. 234 of 2025, amending the provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. 138 of 2024 regarding the implementation of the study and assessment system for secondary school students. This decision will be effective starting with the 2025/2026 academic year.

The decision specified the subjects and activities for first-year secondary school students (general - baccalaureate) as follows:

- The core subjects in which students are examined, and their grades are added to the overall score. These include: Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - History - Mathematics - Integrated Sciences - Philosophy and Logic.

- The core subjects in which students are examined, and which are considered pass/fail subjects, and their grades are not added to the overall score. These include: Religious Education - Second Foreign Language - Physical Education - Programming and Artificial Intelligence.

Regarding educational and vocational activities, students are required to choose only one activity, and their grades are not added to the overall score. These include: Art Education - Music Education - Home Economics - Scouts and Guides - Theater and Acting - Journalism and Radio - Community Service and Environmental Development - Creative Scientific Activities (Reading and Libraries) - Industrial Technology - Agricultural Technology - Entrepreneurship and Projects.

The decision stipulated that the subjects and activities for second-year secondary school students include the following:

- For the science stream, these include core subjects in which students are examined, and their grades are added to the overall score. Its grades are added to the total score, and include: (Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - Mathematics - History - Chemistry - Physics). For the Arts stream, these include core subjects in which students are tested, and their grades are added to the total score. These include: (Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - History - Geography - Psychology - Mathematics).

- For the Science and Arts streams, these include core subjects in which students are tested. These subjects are considered pass/fail subjects, and their grades are not added to the total score. These include (Religious Education - Second Foreign Language - Physical Education - National Education). They also include educational and vocational activities, from which the student chooses only one activity, and their grade is not added to the total score. These include (Art Education - Music Education - Home Economics - Scouts and Guides - Theater and Acting - Journalism and Radio - Community Service and Environmental Development - Creative Scientific Activities - Reading and Libraries - Agricultural Technology - Entrepreneurship and Projects).

The decision stipulates that the subjects and activities for third-year secondary school students include the following:

- Core subjects Specialized subjects: Only science students are tested, and their grades are added to the total score. These subjects include: (Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - Biology - Chemistry - Physics). For specialized core subjects, only mathematics students are tested, and their grades are added to the total score. These subjects include: (Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - Mathematics - Chemistry - Physics).

- For specialized core subjects for the literary stream, students are tested, and their grades are added to the total score. These subjects include: (Arabic Language - First Foreign Language - History - Geography - Statistics). All scientific and literary streams have core subjects in which students are tested. These subjects are considered pass/fail subjects, and their grades are not added to the total score. These subjects include: (Religious Education - Second Foreign Language - Physical Education - National Education).

All scientific and literary streams also include educational and vocational activities. Students choose only one activity, and their grades are not added to the total score. These activities include pass/fail, and include: (Art Education - Music Education - Home Economics - Scouts and Guides - Theater) Acting, journalism and radio, community service and environmental development, creative scientific activities, reading and libraries, industrial technology, agricultural technology, entrepreneurship and projects.

The decision also stipulated that all academic subjects and activities be taught to students in the first two grades (general - baccalaureate) and the second grade of general secondary school throughout the academic year, including its two semesters (first and second).

The decision also stipulated that two exams be held on what students in the first two grades of secondary school (general - baccalaureate) have studied.
