Minister of Education receives his Sudanese counterpart
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received his counterpart, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar Karar, Minister of Education in the Republic of Sudan, in the presence of Ambassador Lieutenant General Imad El-Din Mustafa Adawi, Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Egypt; to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two countries, and benefit from Egyptian expertise in the field of pre-university education.
From the Ministry, Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister, Major General Engineer Yasser Salem, Assistant Minister for Educational Buildings Affairs, Ms. Sherine Hamdy, Advisor to the Minister for International Relations and Agreements, and Ms. Randa Salah, Director of Cultural Relations and Expatriates, attended.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stressed the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between Egypt and Sudan, noting that Egypt and Sudan have strong relations in various fields, most notably the field of education, exchange of expertise and educational missions.
The Minister also stressed the Egyptian state's keenness to support brotherly Sudan, especially in light of the current conditions it is witnessing, and to provide all means of support to Sudanese students studying in Egyptian schools.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa, Minister of Education in the Republic of Sudan, praised Egypt's role and support for Sudan in various fields, especially in the field of pre-university education, appreciating Egypt's position in receiving Sudanese citizens coming from Sudan due to the current crisis, and treating them well.
The meeting discussed coordination to reopen the Sudanese Friendship School at its current headquarters in Giza Governorate temporarily for the current academic year 2024/2025 only, in addition to preparing a technical and engineering evaluation of the school's headquarters by the Educational Buildings Authority.
It was also agreed to hold Sudanese secondary school exams at the end of December 2024 in Egyptian schools, according to what the ministry specified regarding the geographical distribution of these schools, and to provide the Sudanese side with the numbers of Sudanese students applying to take the exams, and their geographical distribution, with the necessity of completing these procedures by the relevant Egyptian authorities.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif also welcomed the Sudanese side's request to benefit from Egyptian expertise in teacher training programs and organizing workshops and training courses to qualify teachers, raise their efficiency and build their capacity in the field of educational planning and education in times of emergency, in addition to benefiting from the ministry's expertise in the field of digital transformation. At the end of the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif confirmed that the ministry will continue all its efforts to facilitate the necessary procedures for Sudanese students in Egypt.
