The Minister of Education and Technical Education announces the details of the general secondary exams for the academic year 2020/2021

Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held today at the Ministry's General Diwan a press conference to announce the decisions regarding the performance of the General Secondary Certificate exams for the academic year 2020/2021.
During the conference, Dr. Tariq Shawky reviewed the development of education at the secondary level (the new evaluation system), which was implemented from the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year, as the state began implementing a new system, which was reduced by many as the "tablet system", but the matter This went beyond to a more comprehensive and deeper development, which includes taking exams to measure their comprehension and understanding of the curricula instead of the process of memorization and indoctrination, which had negative consequences on students' abilities and understanding of what was taught, especially when they joined the university level.
In his speech at the conference, the Minister of Education and Technical Education touched on an explanation of the new assessment method, which worked to reformulate the scientific curricula in a way that allows the student to understand learning outcomes, as well as providing a “tablet” for each student for free, and making digital educational materials available through interactive content. from multiple sources.
Dr. Tarek Shawky pointed out that the ministry has made available many sources for studying and reviewing, including the “Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB), the LMS learning management platform, the Egypt Lessons platform www.hesas.eg, and our school channel 2 (frequency 12206 / coding rate 27500 / polarization: vertical) )”, pointing out that all these means provide explanations, interactive questions and final curricula reviews for the secondary stage, provided by the most qualified teachers free of charge in cooperation with a number of international institutions.

Exams are held electronically (using tablets) with a printed question paper available to secure all students, in order to insure against any sudden technical problems that may occur in the tablet, and to secure from power outages or any problem that may affect the main servers (servers).
Students who did not receive the tablet will only take the exams in paper form.
- Students will solve the questions on the Babel Sheet and then monitor the answers on the tablet with enough time to do so, to ensure that there is an additional hard copy of the answers for reference in the event of any complaint, insurance against power outages before or during the electronic exam, and insurance against any problem It infects the main servers.
- The answers will be corrected electronically for all students by the same mechanism and without human intervention in order to ensure full justice for all students.
Dr. Tariq Shawqi explained the form of the questions and the time of the exam, and it came as follows:
All questions will be of multiple choice (MCQ) type.
- There will be a balance in the number of questions and levels of difficulty with the time designed for each question and the time designed for the entire exam.
The student will be handed an additional white paper for use in writing the steps required for some science and mathematics subjects.
The student's government book (whether the official ministry book from previous years or a printed copy of it) will be allowed to enter, and no other papers of any kind will be allowed to enter.

Dr. Tariq Shawky stressed that the questions in the exam will not be impossible, but will measure understanding, application and depth and will be related to the learning outcomes of the curriculum and not literally examples in the textbook.
The Minister of Education spoke about the third trial exam for high school students, which will be held from (Monday, 06/21/2021 to Monday, 06/28/2021), where he stressed that the objective of the exam is:
Getting to know the official examination committees and obtaining the seat numbers.
- Updating the tablets and obtaining the name and password for those who did not do so in the past beta exams.
- Testing the efficiency of servers and internal networks in official committees.
- Identify the quality of the questions and the full time of the exams for all subjects.
Using these practice exams as an additional guiding experience that helps to prepare well for the final exam.
- Providing a complete opportunity for home students, repeaters and division students to try out the questions and the method of solving on (Babel Sheet).
- The third trial exam requires students to come down to the committees for one day to get acquainted with the committee and to test the use of the Babel Sheet.
Completing the rest of the exams from home to reduce school attendance times in order to avoid the Corona pandemic.
- Students (who received the tablet device) will attend the exam within the school committee on one of the days (Monday 6/21/2021 for the Scientific Division, or Tuesday 22/6/2021 for the Literary Division).
- Students (who did not receive the tablets) will attend the exam inside the school committee on (Wednesday, 23/6/2021).
The Minister of Education and Technical Education also announced the schedule of high school exams for the academic year 2020/2021 (July round) for the literary and scientific divisions, which are scheduled to be exams starting from Saturday, 10/7/2021, and continue until Monday 2/8/2021.
Shawky also announced the exam schedule for STEM schools that excel in science and technology, which is scheduled to take place from Sunday 11/7/2021 and will continue until Thursday 5/8/2021.
The Minister also announced the examination schedule for blind students, which is scheduled to take place from Sunday 11/7/2021 and will continue until Tuesday 3/8/2021.
During the conference, Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, talked about bifurcation in the secondary stage (for the academic year 2021/2022), where he stressed:
Students in high school 2021/2022 will remain on the current system.
- The following batches will be satisfied with bifurcation into scientific and literary only in the second and third grades of secondary school.
- The end of the work of bifurcation from “science” to “science science” and “science sport” starting from the academic year 2022/2023.
The curriculum map will be redistributed to fit this decision.
Relaxing secondary school curricula in general to focus on basic learning outcomes as an interim step for development until the new secondary education system arrives starting in 2027.
- Exams this year will be first round and second round only.
Any student infected with Corona during the exams period in the July round will have the right to enter the second round with the same actual grade.
