Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting with Dr. Iman Mohamed Hassan, Head of the Central Administration for Student Activities, school theater officials in the Ministry and directors of some educational directorates, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in order to follow up the mechanisms and executive procedures for discovering and caring for talented students in the field of acting and theater.
Dr. Reda Hegazy affirmed that the Ministry is making great efforts to support and upgrade the school theater and reveal the talents and artistic skills of students, and nurture and invest them through the preparation of various theatrical and artistic performances. At the beginning of the second semester of the current academic year, it launched the "Revive School Theater" initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. and the United Media Services Company.
The minister also stressed the importance of the role of the school theater in recreating and developing the artistic spirit in schools in general and schools for people of determination in particular. To create a scientifically, artistically and literaryly educated generation.
During the meeting, the minister directed the preparation of a national theatrical show for Egyptian school students, under the supervision of the technical cadres specialized in this field affiliated with the ministry, while selecting an appropriate text for the show, and taking into account the preparation of a specific timetable for implementation.
In this context, the Minister directed to focus on promoting the values of loyalty and belonging, the history of Egypt and the geography of the place. He also indicated the importance of highlighting various societal phenomena, and linking students with all service projects provided in the country, in addition to paying attention to educating young people on national and moral values. Introducing students to the achievements made by the state in building new cities and national projects.
The minister pointed out that the student's participation in the school theater gives him many skills and works to build his personality, stressing the importance of rewarding and honoring outstanding students in various activities.
The Minister also directed that each educational directorate form a theatrical work team consisting of human cadres that includes workers, those responsible for the theater and talented students, in order to present a play within the framework of the summer activity, stressing the employment of the message of the school theater and upgrading it through a theatrical work that addresses and develops the minds of students. By selecting appropriate theatrical scripts, which may include highlighting the depth of Egyptian history and its rich stories and heroics.
The minister added that a school theater festival will be organized to select the best play at the district level, and to honor those in charge of it.
The minister added that there is close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture in activating cultural activities, and contributing to supervising the organization of workshops and training human cadres of school theater specialists and developing them professionally.
At the end of the meeting, the minister directed the preparation of workshops to discuss the implementation of mechanisms for preparing and selecting the text of theatrical performances, selecting talented students and agreeing on implementation procedures.
