The Minister of Education and Technical Education reviews the efforts to develop education during the activities of the conference "Sisi's Egypt and Building the Modern State"
Today, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the Republic Conference and Exhibition, which was titled "Egypt Sisi.. Building the Modern State", organized by Dar Al-Tahrir Foundation for Printing and Publishing, under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, which was held at Al-Manara Center for conferences.
In his speech during the conference on "Education is Egypt's Gateway to the Future", Dr. Tarek Shawky conveyed the greetings of Engineer Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and his wishes for the success of the great event.
Dr. Tariq Shawky expressed his happiness at reviewing the ministry’s efforts and its contribution to the achievements of seven years of President Sisi’s rule. He welcomed all participants in the conference, including ministers, relevant experts, distinguished representatives, representatives of the private sector and other attendees, thanking the Dar Al-Tahrir Foundation and Al-Gomhouria Newspaper, under the leadership of Mr. Iyad Abu Al-Hajjaj, and the National Press Authority headed by Eng. Abdul-Sadiq Al-Shorbagy, and Mr. Abdul-Raziq Tawfiq, editor-in-chief of Al-Jumhuriya newspaper.
On what happened in the development of Egyptian education, the minister said: The Egyptian education system is a huge system, in 2017, it included 21 million students, and despite the large number of students, it has increased today to more than 24 million students, in addition to the large number of teachers in about 60 A thousand schools, in light of the presence of many types of schools, including government schools, private schools and international schools, with various certificates available from the American, British, IB, German and French diplomas.
He continued, "We also have technical education schools, Japanese schools, and STEM schools, but we are still suffering from reducing this huge effort and the state's efforts to develop education in the idea of the high school exam, bearing in mind that the general secondary school has 700,000 students out of a total of 700,000 students. More than 24 million, and this indicates that there are twenty-three million and three hundred thousand exams in silence, including certificates of technical and preparatory diplomas and years of transportation.”
He explained that from this point of view came our vision of education and changing the culture of education that we inherited for decades, and in 2014 the start of achieving the vision of the modern state, abandoning private lessons and cheating, and creating an educational revolution, and in 2016 youth conferences were organized and bold decisions were taken in this regard.
The minister added that the curricula were developed in 2018, starting with the kindergarten stage, and the new curricula for the fourth grade of primary school, which will become available during the coming September and October. To be “learn to know, learn to do, learn to live,” the student is continually assessed, with an emphasis on building identity and character and that the student has a passion for learning.
Dr. Tariq Shawky appealed to the media to cooperate with the Ministry of Education to educate parents about the goal of the change, noting that the ministry made television channels available for parents and teachers to extract the best from the new curriculum, stressing that the idea that the student learns only to prepare him for high school must be eliminated. and coordination, as education aims at a life in which the student lives and learns, and the Ministry makes every effort to provide students with high-level books and curricula that qualifies them to obtain world-class certificates with which students can compete internationally.
He pointed out that there has been a digital transformation of education, praised by countries and international institutions, and the ministry now owns assets from 6 years of curricula, which represents a great value that we are proud of, in addition to the digital library available on the Internet for free for students at the secondary level on the tablet, where 550 million were registered. Watching within two years what confirms that students benefited from it in a large and effective way.
The minister called for reviewing these developed curricula and comparing them with the curricula of international schools, stressing that the state is interested in investing in children, and there is cooperation with the Ministry of Solidarity to take care of the pre-school stage in the nursery stage to create a new personality, pointing out that the vision of education development is centered on building the education system. The new generation that started in 2018 and will graduate in 2030, and this is all investment in free public education.

He added that there are 24 applied technology schools, which reflects the great interest in technical education, and the first batch of 3 schools will graduate this year. An event from developing curricula, platforms and question banks, and this size of schools is a great achievement owned by the state, and hundreds of thousands participated in its work, and we also have 50 foreign partners working with us.
