Today, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education signed a joint cooperation protocol with the El Sewedy Technical Academy to launch and operate the Dahr School for Applied Technology in Port Said, funded by the Italian company Eni and the Egyptian Industrial Gases Holding Company, which will be held in one of the schools in Port Said after developing, modernizing and supplying it with all laboratories, tools and equipment The necessary technical education in accordance with the highest international standards in technical education and specialized vocational training.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, and Ms. Hanan El-Rihani, Secretary General of El Sewedy Electric Corporation and CEO of El Sewedy Technical Academy.
Dr. Amr Basileh said that this protocol is complementary to the protocol that was signed on June 18, 2021 between Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Major General Adel El Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, to implement projects to support and develop technical education in Port Said Governorate within the contribution allocated from the Zohr field project in community development in the governorate, which comes as one of the initiatives implemented by the project in the governorate since its inception in 2017, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between IEOC “Eni” and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company “EGAS” in March 2017 to implement social initiatives and health in Port Said Governorate.
Basileh added that the ministry is seeking to expand and increase the number of applied technology schools in the various governorates of the republic, noting that the Dahr School for Applied Technology specializes in the field of information technology systems and networks, and the field of operation and maintenance of energy equipment, in addition to the field of electrical maintenance, and it is the second applied technology school in Port Said Governorate. More than 1,000 male and female students who completed the preparatory certificate with a total of more than 230 degrees from the Canal Governorates (Suez, Port Said, and Ismailia) applied to join it.
Hanan Al-Rihani explained that the Zohr School for Applied Technology in Port Said seeks to train and qualify young people of both sexes in the age group from 15 to 18 years. It also aims to attract and train at least 264 male and female students annually (at least 20% of whom are girls), so that the total number of Students who will be given an educational opportunity in the school to 1056 male and female students within 4 years is the period of the cooperation agreement, whether for training in employment programs, capacity building of the current workforce, or trainings for workers at their own expense.
It is worth noting that this protocol aims to operate the Dahr School for Applied Technology through the El-Sewedy Technical Academy of the Elsewedy Electric Corporation, to be the first applied technology school launched by El-Sewedy Technical Academy within the protocol of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to establish 10 applied technology schools, to implement the curricula according to the protocol. competency system to establish, develop, operate and raise the efficiency of the school, as well as to qualify students and provide them with skills supported by practical application; To provide qualified and trained technical labor capable of keeping pace with the labor market.
