Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met today, Monday, with his counterpart Abdel Hakim Belabed, Minister of National Education in Algeria, on the sidelines of his participation in the Global Education Forum 2023 in the British capital, London, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two countries.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy reviewed the most important features of the development of education in Egypt, indicating in this context that Egypt has 25 million male and female students within the education system, stressing that the Egyptian state focuses on building the Egyptian person and developing education through integrated coordination between the various concerned ministries. .

The minister emphasized that education is a societal issue, explaining that new curricula have been built based on knowledge production and integrated curricula, focusing on personal aspects, life skills, lifelong learning, and focusing on major concepts, to prepare a student capable of thinking and creativity.

The minister added that the development of the curricula of the fifth grade of primary school has been completed, and the curricula of the sixth grade of primary school are being developed, pointing out that the general framework for the curricula of the preparatory stage is also being developed, stressing in this context that the Egyptian curricula have international features.

Dr. Reda Hegazy pointed out that education in the presence of the teacher affects the production of knowledge and the development of creativity, which is what the ministry focuses on in its strategy to develop the education system through many axes.

The minister added that the number of secondary education schools is 2,500, all of which are equipped with technological infrastructure, and students were handed over tablets and curricula were set on them in parallel with their delivery of textbooks, as well as the role of the tablet in providing multiple sources of knowledge, in addition to providing other sources such as educational platforms and classes. Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed that there is close and complementary cooperation between the Egyptian ministries, pointing out that there is cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in implementing the Day of Sports Activities, and cooperation is also taking place with the Ministry of Culture in implementing the Day of Cultural and Artistic Activities, stressing that human building is represented in student learning. Real learning and the development of cognitive, skillful and emotional aspects of his personality, which is the role assigned to the school.

For his part, the Minister of National Education in Algeria praised Dr. Reda Hegazy's interventions during the forum sessions, stressing that the Egyptian experience in developing education represents a reference for many countries that seek to develop their educational system.

The Algerian minister also reviewed steps to develop the educational system in his country, noting that the Arts Division has been introduced into the Algerian education system, in addition to the development of the high school system.

Minister Abdel Hakim Belaabed added that he aims to introduce new disciplines in the education system related to sports and physical education and to link students with youth, sports and cultural institutions.

The two ministers agreed on the importance of improving cooperation between Egypt and Algeria in the field of education and enhancing the exchange of experiences in order to achieve the desired development of the education system in both countries.
