Within the framework of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education’s keenness to support people with special needs, and coinciding with the World Autism Day declared by the United Nations General Assembly by Resolution No. 62/139 on April 2, 2009, the Ministry directed the lighting of all its educational facilities, starting with the Ministry’s General Office building in the capital. The new administrative, directorates, educational administrations and schools are painted in blue “autism logo”; For solidarity and participation in the global campaign (Light It Up Blue) to raise awareness of World Autism Day.

The Ministry of Education’s participation in this step comes out of its keenness to spread awareness of autism and the urgent need to improve the quality of life for people with autism, integrate them into society, and exploit their abilities and empower them in an optimal way.

The Ministry of Education is keen to place people with special needs at the top of its priorities and makes every effort to achieve high-quality education without discrimination. Therefore, the Ministry works hard to support the performance of teachers in dealing with integrated groups, through implementing specialized training packages in educating people with disabilities that have been provided to more than 105 thousand teachers, specialists and school leaders from comprehensive general education schools in all governorates.

The Ministry of Education has also concluded various partnerships with civil society organizations to equip and operate resource rooms to serve students with minor disabilities, as the total number of these rooms has so far reached 647 resource rooms, in addition to working to improve the services provided to them and expand the accommodation of our children with disabilities. .

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, also issued Ministerial Resolution No. 27 of 2023 amending articles of Ministerial Resolution No. 291 and 252 to amend the ratio of essay exam questions to objective and issuing Circular No. 9 of 2024 regarding allocating a percentage of (5%) as a percentage in excess of the density determined in schools. Of both types and schools that implement curricula of a special nature (international), in accordance with the mechanisms for implementing Ministerial Resolution No. (252) of 2017 regarding the admission of students with mild disabilities into general education schools.

In the same context, the Ministry was keen to integrate students with special needs with their peers, by including references to the most frequent and most familiar words for deaf and hard of hearing students in books on values and respect for others, starting in the third grade of primary school. This is to facilitate dealing with these students.

The Ministry of Education is also keen to implement various activities and events in various governorates, whether sports, cultural, artistic or awareness-raising, aimed at integrating students with disabilities and students from special education schools throughout the year, developing their abilities and developing their talents.
