Minister of Education Witnesses Signing of Memorandum of Understanding)

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed today the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in implementing the Egyptian Baccalaureate system in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister, and on behalf of the IBO by Mr. Hev Banayan, Director of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East at the International Baccalaureate Organization.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a clear institutional framework for cooperation between the two parties. This framework focuses on strengthening collaboration in developing the Egyptian Baccalaureate curriculum, providing technical support, building capacity, and implementing training programs for teachers in public schools that implement the Egyptian Baccalaureate system.

The Memorandum of Understanding also aims to maintain the quality of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs in schools implementing the IB system, including the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), and the Career Programme (CP), in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the educational process in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif met with Mr. Heif Banayan, Director of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East at the International Baccalaureate Organization. During the meeting, he reviewed the reform measures taken to develop the educational system in the preceding period, most notably reducing student density and increasing student attendance rates in schools. He also highlighted the development of 94 curricula and the introduction of programming and artificial intelligence for first-year secondary students in cooperation with Japan.

Both parties agreed to build upon the Memorandum of Understanding in the coming phase and to take the necessary executive measures to contribute to raising the quality of Egyptian education and enhancing its international competitiveness.
