Minister of Education Receives Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, today received Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Muqbil, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS). This meeting aims to enhance educational cooperation and exchange expertise between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Bureau on educational projects of common interest.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of this meeting, which reflects the deep historical relations between Egypt and the Gulf States. He noted that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks to enhance the exchange of expertise that supports the state's drive towards comprehensive and integrated development of the education system within the framework of Egypt's Vision 2030. He also noted that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks to build strong partnerships with Arab educational institutions, particularly the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), given its pivotal role in supporting educational integration among Arab countries and promoting pioneering educational practices.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Muqbil expressed his happiness with his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, praising the remarkable progress he witnessed, especially in the New Administrative Capital, which reflects the vision of the Egyptian political leadership to build a promising future that keeps pace with the aspirations of the times and enhances Egypt's regional and international standing. He also expressed his pride in cooperating with Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, commending his efforts in developing the educational process in Egypt.
He emphasized that the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States is working to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Egypt and looks forward to benefiting from Egypt's rich expertise in the fields of preparing educational research related to the Arab educational context. The Bureau also seeks to unify Arab educational visions and achieve cognitive integration.
The Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) reviewed the Bureau's role, highlighting its efforts to develop joint Gulf educational policies, which contribute to enhancing the quality of education and achieving integration between education systems in the region. He also highlighted the Bureau's support for member states in theoretical and applied educational research and studies addressing contemporary educational issues. The Bureau also launches cooperative educational initiatives and joint educational projects among member states, contributing to enhancing cooperation and integration. It also cooperates with international organizations to develop educational programs and enhance the quality of education, as well as submit reports on the state of education in member states.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the areas of examination and assessment systems, and the development of educational research and development. It also explored opportunities for partnership in educational programs and projects with a common Arab dimension, including the preparation of a study to improve students' literacy and reading comprehension levels through programs that emphasize values, national identity, and Arab culture.
The meeting also discussed ways to benefit from Egyptian expertise, represented by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in the PIRLS and PISA tests. The meeting also discussed preparing studies to assess the status of Arabic language teaching, the competence of its teachers, and the level of student achievement, monitoring all experiences, and studying how to set standards, measure, and develop curricula. These studies will be presented to Arab countries and utilized to contribute to a qualitative shift in the quality of Arab education.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif welcomed these ideas and proposals, emphasizing the Egyptian Ministry of Education's commitment to providing all possible support for their success, which will contribute to enhancing and developing the quality of the educational process.
The meeting was attended from the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States by Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Jowfi, Advisor to the Bureau; Mr. Omar Boudi, Supervisor of the Director-General's Office; and Mr. Mubarak Bin Jahla, from the Public Relations Department.
