Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Professional Academy for Teachers. To discuss the academy’s agenda to advance the professional development of teachers.

Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed the necessity of solving all the problems facing teachers, and working to overcome all obstacles, pointing out that there is no development without improving the performance of teachers and developing their skills in a manner consistent with the education development plan, with the participation and cooperation of professors from higher education.

The Minister also directed the necessity of selecting qualified trainers well and applying the best quality standards, directing the construction of a guide for accreditation of professional development services in a way that is compatible with the rapid developments of the era and local and international changes, and supports the country’s direction towards digital transformation.

The Minister stressed the need to launch a criteria document for selecting teachers that includes teachers, mentors, and administrations, and the need to work on ensuring that the teacher possesses new skills that qualify him to explain scientific material and communicate with students. In order for the educational process to produce learning outcomes capable of facing all difficulties, he added that the Ministry is working to finalize the teacher standards document, in light of better learning that includes new skills for teachers that keep pace with metaverses, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including preparing new standards for developing teachers’ performance that are compatible with the new education system and modern developments, and achieving the requirements of tomorrow’s teachers through the Education for Tomorrow project, in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and signing a cooperation protocol with the Arab Union for Education. To develop professional standards for special education teachers, accredit 1,852 TOT trainers in all specializations, and accredit 148 external auditors.

The training program for trainers (TOT) on creating digital content was also discussed, which was conducted in cooperation with UNESCO and Huawei, with the aim of creating a training platform to enable teachers, managers and supervisors to use technology and digital content in teaching, supporting blended or distance education, and creating a digital library of resources. Knowledge and training materials.

The meeting also discussed the preparation of the Professional Academy for Teachers to be a second category center for UNESCO in the field of professional development for teachers, and cooperation with the Egypt Workforce Project in preparing special standards for technical education trainers and training programs, and centers for providing professional development services for technical education teachers. The eligibility of Messrs. Their cases are presented by calculating the interim period for promotion to teacher positions according to the conditions from the date of issuance of the Minister’s decision or the Governor’s decision.
