The Minister of Education and Technical Education discusses with the Director of the Division of Policies
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Mr. Borhene Chakroun, Director of the Division of Policies and Lifelong Learning Activities at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the presence of Ambassador Alaa Youssef, Egypt's Ambassador to France.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the "Digital Learning Week 2024" conference held in France under the title "Directing Technology for Education", which is organized by UNESCO, during the period from September 2 to 5, 2024.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his happiness with this meeting, praising the fruitful and constructive cooperation with UNESCO in the field of pre-university education, especially with regard to literacy and adult education.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif reviewed the achievements made in the adult education and literacy axis through the National Literacy Strategy in Egypt, and the UNESCO Sers El-Layyan Regional Center for Adult Education (ASFEC), a Category II center in Egypt, as well as the latest developments in the digital transformation of adult education and literacy in Egypt.
For his part, Mr. Borhene Chakroun, Director of the Division of Policies and Lifelong Learning Activities at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Education in the education sector in Egypt, expressing his appreciation for the Ministry of Education's keenness to implement the sustainable development goals through the future plans and strategies it sets.
The meeting also witnessed a presentation of the proposed areas for future cooperation with UNESCO in building the capacities of literacy teachers, integrating digital education into adult education, comprehensive educational environments for adult learners, and sustainability in adult education.
A number of files related to the progress of the educational process in Egypt and the initiatives adopted by the Ministry were also reviewed in order to provide an opportunity for all students and work to advance the educational system and prepare and encourage students to continue education and learning.
