Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received, at the Ministry's General Office, British Ambassador to Cairo Gareth Bailey, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss strengthening cooperation in the field of education development between the two countries.

Dr. Tarek Shawky welcomed the audience, pointing to the state’s efforts to develop education in Egypt, which aims to improve the educational experiences of our students in a positive way through the new Education System 2.0, in cooperation with a number of partners, by introducing new curricula, and developing each of the tools Teaching, teaching aids, material capabilities in schools, and assessment criteria to match these curricula.

The Minister of Education reviewed the procedures for developing the general education system (kindergarten - basic stage - high school), the development of technical education, during the period (2017-2022), and the developments of digital library projects.

Dr. Tariq Shawky talked about the goals of the new education system, which are to provide education for all without discrimination, and to pay attention to learning outcomes, in addition to improving the quality of the research and technology system, as well as improving the competitiveness of education systems and outcomes locally, regionally, and globally. Education focuses on the learner himself, learning is for life and not for the examination that is given to him, as well as the focus on discovering the true talents of the student, and education is interdisciplinary.

Shawky touched on the experience of the Egyptian-Japanese schools, which started from the year 2018-2019, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), based on the Japanese tokatsu system based on the learning system by doing, pointing to efforts to develop education at the secondary level, explaining that the Work to change the evaluation method from the old method, which measures the skill of retrieving stored information for known issues, to a method that measures the amount of understanding the real target learning outcomes.

The Minister also touched on the details of the system for building electronic questions, which is carried out at the National Center for Examinations and Evaluation in cooperation with the Pearson Foundation, as well as the system for making electronic exams from question banks, linking them to student databases, implementing them and receiving answers, to be corrected until the results are announced, explaining that the Correcting more than 10.4 million online exams over the past two years.

On the development of technical education, Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that the ministry seeks, through the technical education system, to develop the professional capabilities of the Egyptian workforce, and increase its competitiveness locally and internationally.

In his speech, Minister of Education, Dr. Tariq Shawky, indicated that an international education summit was held during the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP 27 for 2022, with the participation of a number of education ministers around the world, to discuss common issues related to By education.

For his part, Gareth Bailey, the British ambassador to Egypt, said that the education file in Egypt is witnessing a great boom, pointing out that Egypt has played a major role in developing education and moving towards introducing technology into the educational process, saying: Education is a very important point in the relations that bind between Egypt and the United Kingdom.

The British ambassador praised the new curricula applied by Egypt in the new education system 2.0, noting that the United Kingdom offers many scholarships offered by his country to Egyptian students in many disciplines.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Reda Hegazy, Deputy Minister for Education Affairs, Dr. Sherine Hamdy, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister's Office, Dr. Hanim Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister for International Cooperation, and Sahar Khamis, Head of Education Programs at the British Council.
