The Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Chamber of Engineering Industries signed joint cooperation protocols with Siemens Mobility, DMG Mori, Tanta Motors, Bavaria Egypt and the Egyptian Auto Feeding Industries to establish a center of excellence for the engineering industries sector at Zine El Abidine Industrial Secondary School for the academic year 2022/2023. With the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German government.
Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education, said that the centers of excellence are a new model that is applied in technical education schools in Egypt according to the German system, and will follow the methodology of competencies that have been developed, noting that the cooperation of the Ministry, private sector companies and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to establish The Center of Excellence for the Engineering Industries Sector comes within the framework of the Ministry’s strategy towards developing technical education, which is based on improving quality, through the establishment of an independent body to ensure quality and accreditation in the fields of technical education (Itqan), and the adoption of curricula based on the merits methodology, in addition to improving teachers’ skills , through the establishment of an academy to train technical education teachers, the participation of business owners in developing technical education, and changing the stereotyped image of technical education.
Mujahid confirmed that the center includes three professions in the engineering industries sector, which are metalworking, mechanical maintenance, and industrial control electricity.
Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, referred to the Ministry's efforts towards providing a distinguished educational environment for students of technical education and its constant endeavor to prepare trained and qualified technical workers to join the labor market; By providing a number of educational paths in technical education schools in proportion to the abilities and inclinations of students, preparatory graduates can enroll in industrial, commercial, agricultural or hotel technical education schools, and they can also enroll in technical education schools that apply the dual education system, or applied technology schools or centers Excellence.
Basileh pointed out the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors, and the ministry's understanding of the requirements of the private sector, and its availability of many means of cooperation with companies in various industrial, agricultural, commercial, and hotel fields.
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Al-Mohandes, Chairman of the Chamber of Engineering Industries, said that the Chamber strongly believes in the importance of technical labor and the need to pay much attention to them. Accordingly, the Chamber participated in the establishment of the Engineering Industries Sector Center at Zain Al-Abidin Industrial Secondary School, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education. And a number of industrial partners, and this center is the first of the centers of excellence that the chamber hopes to spread in all governorates of Egypt to serve the industry, and he concluded, noting that the center contains training workshops at the highest level; To train students on the equipment and machines that companies actually use; To ensure the graduation of trained and qualified technical workers at the highest level.
Andreas Adrian, Coordinator of the Technical Education and Labor Market Sector at the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), stressed the importance of centers of excellence, explaining that the active participation and ownership of the private sector in technical education processes is the key to the success of technical school graduates. For this reason, GIZ aims To integrate private sector companies in the management of the Center of Excellence as well as in the teaching and learning processes.
Mr. Tarek Ali, CEO of Siemens Mobility in Egypt, said that the partnership between the public and private sectors is an essential pillar for sustainable development in Egypt, not only at the economic level, but also in the service and development sector, noting that Siemens Mobility's commitment to the technical education sector stems from Its constant quest to participate in providing real added value to the Egyptian society, and that Siemens Mobility is currently implementing a number of major transport and communications projects in Egypt, which are ambitious and giant projects at the level of the Arab region and the continent of Africa, which require labor-intensive and trained.
Meanwhile, Eng. Mahmoud Ali, CEO of DMG Morey, indicated the company’s belief in the importance of technical labor and its effective role in the development of industries, and stressed the need to prepare and qualify these workers in a manner consistent with the developments of the labor market, and the need to provide them with the latest information and training periodically. To keep pace with the continuous technological and industrial changes that the world is facing.
Dr. Nader Riad, CEO of Bavaria, expressed the company's pride in its participation in the process of developing technical education, which is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, pointing to the company's constant endeavor to contribute to serving the Egyptian community in many sectors, and the technical education sector comes in their introduction; Because of its effective and influential role in the development of industries and the Egyptian economy.
Eng. Alaa Abu Freikha, Head of Industries at Tanta Motors, began his speech by praising the giant projects undertaken by the Egyptian state in all fields, and for providing new and diversified avenues for cooperation between the private and public sectors. Accordingly, Tanta Motors seeks to participate in the development of the technical education system, and to improve Efficiency of the skill of graduates of technical education schools, so that they keep pace with international standards, and be able to meet the needs of the local and international labor market in various disciplines.
Raafat Samir Al-Khanajry, CEO of the Egyptian Automotive Feeding Company, said that the auto industry’s strategy deepens reliance on the local component in manufacturing, and enters into more complex parts. The company is keen to harness all its capabilities and seize all possible opportunities to play its national role and advance the process of sustainable development in Egypt.
