The Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Chamber of Engineering Industries signed a joint cooperation protocol with Ghabbour Auto and Mansour Auto to establish a Center of Excellence for the Automotive Sector at Al-Obour Industrial School in Qalyubia Governorate in preparation for the start of studies there in the academic year 2022/2023, under the auspices of German development cooperation and implementation of the German Cooperation Agency International (GIZ).
Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education, said that the centers of excellence are a new model applied in technical education schools in Egypt according to the German system, and is based on the partnership between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and a group of industrial companies in the same field of specialization, with an authority representing the economic sector. The Centers of Excellence is one of the educational models launched by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education with the aim of upgrading and advancing the technical education system in Egypt, and reflects the continuous cooperation between the Egyptian and German governments to advance technical education in Egypt.
Mujahid added, that with regard to the Center of Excellence for the Automotive Sector, located at the Joint Industrial Obour School, it is based on the partnership between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Ghabbour Auto and Mansour Auto, and the Chamber of Engineering Industries, with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) through the Operational Support Project .
Mujahid expressed his happiness with the cooperation of two industrial companies specialized in the same field in the Automotive Sector Excellence Center, which will contribute to the heaviness and diversity of students' experiences, and effectively identify the needs of the labor market. Which will greatly affect the improvement of the efficiency and skill of the center's graduates, and make them fully qualified to join the local and international labor market upon their graduation.
In a related context, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operation and Management Unit for Applied Technology Schools, stressed the contribution of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to the development of the priority sectors identified for the Egyptian state, including the automotive sector. Ministers to launch the national strategy for the localization of the automotive industry in June 2022; With the aim of deepening the automotive industry inside Egypt and the industries feeding it, to increase production and local manufacturing.
Basileh explained that the ministry, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation, took urgent steps, and held meetings with various industrial companies specialized in the automotive sector, and studied and understood their requirements. As a result of all these steps, and in less than two months, a protocol was signed for the establishment of the first center of excellence for the automotive sector in Egypt, in El-Obour City, indicating that the study will begin in the academic year 2022/2023, and the inclusion of 3 main professions related to the automotive sector in the center, which are car paint and repair. Automobile bodies, and auto mechatronics.
He pointed out that the development of technical education is a top priority of the Egyptian state because of its strong returns and impact on the Egyptian industry and the national economy.
Andreas Adrian, coordinator of the Technical Education and Labor Market Development Program at the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), praised the cooperation of all parties to the protocol from the public and private sectors, because of this cooperation's role in improving the level of teaching, education and training processes, which will positively affect the outcomes of the educational process in centers of excellence. It provides the student with the skills that qualify him for the labor market, adding that the automotive sector is witnessing a lot of developments in recent times in the world, and accordingly, the establishment of a center of excellence for the automotive sector is one of the priorities of the Egyptian and German governments to graduate technical workers trained in accordance with international standards and qualified to join the labor market upon their graduation. .
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Al-Mohandes, Chairman of the Chamber of Engineering Industries, said that we are currently witnessing in Egypt a boom and a remarkable change in the outputs of technical education and the skill level of technical workers, and the Chamber is still looking forward to more; This is due to the large and main role of technical labor in the development of the Egyptian industry, stressing that all industrial companies are now looking for a technical worker who combines knowledge and skills, and has a technological background that qualifies him to deal with the modern and advanced technological changes that the whole world is witnessing.
He added that the Chamber is working to monitor the needs of the Egyptian industry and harmonize between their requirements and the skills that must be available in technical employment through the Chamber's participation in the Centers of Excellence model, and follow-up on the results of that partnership through periodic meetings and field visits to factories and centers of excellence.
Eng. George Sidqi, CEO of Human Resources at Ghabbour Auto, expressed his happiness at signing a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Chamber of Engineering Industries and Mansour Auto Company to establish a center of excellence for the automotive sector, pointing to the company's constant keenness to seize all opportunities and harness all its capabilities to do so. In its national role and serving the Egyptian community in many sectors, including the education sector, because of its impact on all other sectors.

George Sedky stressed the company's constant endeavor to invest in young people, providing them with the latest information and training on a regular basis, and its determination to prepare and rehabilitate trained and qualified technical workers in the automotive sector in a manner consistent with the developments in the labor market.

Patrick stressed that to change the mental image about technical labor in Egypt, there must be a model of trained technical workers on the ground in Egypt.
