Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, witnessed the opening ceremony of the final qualifiers for the Egyptian Child Olympiad (the third edition), which is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with this ceremony, and thanked Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for the kind invitation to participate in this distinguished sporting event.
Dr. Reda Hegazy praised the prominent and pivotal role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in organizing this Olympiad, which represents a simulation of the Olympic Games, in this impressive form and outstanding performance, in an effort to acquire a lot of diverse talents that deserve all aspects of attention and care. Reaching generations of heroic athletes who deserve the honor of representing Egypt in international sporting arenas, and hoisting its flag flapping high.
The Minister of Education indicated that holding this Olympiad would enhance honorable competition between our children in various sports in accordance with Olympic principles, as well as develop the values of loyalty and belonging, and promote the spirit of brotherhood among the participants.
The Minister of Education confirmed that our participation today in the opening of this World Cup qualifiers stems from our firm belief in the importance and practice of sport, as it plays a fundamental and effective role in building the personality of our students, by developing their athletic abilities and talents, as well as its positive role in upgrading their behavior, in line with the values of society, noting that interest in and practice of sports is a top priority for the political leadership; Where the President of the Republic, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, stressed that we need to integrate sports into education so that it becomes a part of it; To preserve the health of our generations, within the framework of the interest in building the Egyptian person, and working to reformulate an integrated Egyptian personality.
Dr. Reda Hegazy said: "The Ministry of Education and Technical Education pays great attention to school sports, believing that one of the most important positive roles of physical education and school sports in the lives of our students is to refine their personalities and raise them with a sound education based on acquiring knowledge, skills, and sports competencies. It also earns them healthy and preventive habits, and achieves psychological and emotional balance for them, in a way that avoids the scourge of deviation and extremism, and helps them study.
The Minister of Education continued: "Receiving science and practicing sports activities within educational institutions are two essential factors in building the desired personality, that personality capable of dealing with the data of the knowledge society, and qualified to enter it strongly, noting that many studies and scientific research have shown that Students who participate in sports competitions have a higher ability to continue to study, achieve, and reach higher academic levels.
Dr. Reda Hegazy addressed the finalists, saying: "Work hard, as you are the leaders of tomorrow, and the future champions. Maintain the honorable competition that highlights sports competencies, and continue and be sincere in training to achieve your hopes and ambitions to ascend the podiums in various sports forums."

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said that holding an Egyptian Children’s Olympiad is a simulation model of the Olympiad aimed at possessing the organizational capabilities of such sports courses, instilling the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, and pride in the Egyptian identity, along with the values of honorable competition through a set of activities and sports competitions for both sexes. The ceremony included a segment on sporting achievements and Olympic champions, an artistic concert directed by Amr Ajamy entitled Young People in the New Republic, sports performances for the governorates of Mansoura, North Sinai, Port Said and Alexandria, which won the Kids Show competition, and performances by sports schools in Beni Suef and Minya.
The games implemented in the third edition of the Egyptian Children’s Olympiad include 12 Olympic games (athletics, table tennis, swimming, volleyball, basket, hand, judo, pentathlon, weightlifting, wrestling, karate, and taekwondo) after the winners compete at the local level up to the national level. The National Day, with the participation of 1,700 male and female players, which will start tomorrow on the playgrounds of the Youth Development Center on the island.
The winners of the first place in all games receive financial prizes, and the number of participants in the Children’s Olympiad in previous editions was about 270,000 participants from all governorates, in the age group from 13 to 15 years.
The Egyptian Child Olympiad aims to compete in sports in accordance with Olympic principles, and to implement Olympic sports activities and competitions for boys and girls to instill the value of competition and the value of loyalty and belonging, and to enhance the spirit of brotherhood among the participants.
