The Minister of Education participates in the session “Climate Change Education: Motivating Children to Take Action in Egypt on Climate Change”)

Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in a session entitled “Climate Change Education: Motivating Children to Take Action in Egypt on Climate Change”, organized by UNICEF, on the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Sharm Sheikh from 6 to 18 November 2022.
The session dealt with the efforts of the Ministry of Education in the field of climate change education, in cooperation with key partners, which included training teachers on climate change education, linking climate change education to students' artistic expression and engaging students in climate change education.
Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed that Egypt adopts a clear vision through the climate summit by moving from the planning and pledge stage to the implementation stage to save the planet and humanity and achieve the aspirations of developing countries in helping cover the losses and damages caused by increasingly severe weather events.
Hegazy added that the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with UNICEF, has a strategic plan to raise awareness of 25 million children to work to preserve their environment, by providing training courses on climate change to 350,000 teachers and school principals within the scope of their educational administration.
He continued, "The Ministry of Education and Technical Education organized an art competition for students from different governorates of Egypt to express climate issues through artworks, and qualifiers were carried out among students and the selection of the best projects, and an art exhibition was implemented at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilizations with the participation of the Minister of Culture and the Minister of Environment, and came under The title of "Egypt's Children's Message to the World", a number of projects were selected and their projects are currently being presented on the sidelines of the COP 27 conference in Sharm El-Sheikh.
At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, invited the participants to visit the art gallery located in the wing of the Ministry of Education, Education and Technical Education in the Green Zone, where artworks of students enrolled in public schools are displayed, which reflect the hopes and dreams of children to take action. To address the climate crisis, under the slogan "A message from the children of Egypt to the world."
The session was attended by Dr. Ghada Wali, Director-General of the United Nations Office in Vienna, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and leaders of UNICEF.
