Within the framework of the distinguished bilateral relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany, and to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of education and training, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed today, Friday, via video conference the signing of a joint letter of intent between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the State of Bavaria. The letter aims to develop a strategic partnership in the field of technical education and vocational training, contributing to the provision of innovative and advanced educational opportunities based on the latest international standards.

The letter of intent was signed on behalf of the Minister of Education by Ambassador Mohamed El-Badry, Egypt's Ambassador to Berlin. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, who is currently visiting Germany, and Eng. Ahmed El-Sewedy, CEO of El-Sewedy Electric. The signing was also attended by Bertram Brossart, CEO of the Bavarian Industry Association (vbw) in the Federal Republic of Germany. The signing was also attended by Dr. Otto Fischhö, President of the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG), and Mr. Michael Mutter, representative of the Vocational Education and Training Association (bbw). Ms. Tina Dangle, Ministerial Director at the Bavarian State Government Office, also participated.

In a video conference, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his happiness with this positive step that strengthens the partnership between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the State of Bavaria. He emphasized that the signing of the letter of intent does not merely represent an agreement, but rather a bridge of communication between Egypt and Germany, based on trust, shared values, and a unified vision for the future of youth.

The Minister said, "Together, we are laying the foundation for innovative technical education that meets international standards, enhances cultural exchange, and prepares our students for job opportunities in both countries." He noted that this step reflects the state's drive to prepare highly skilled and creative graduates capable of contributing to economic and social development.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the successful German partners, particularly CDW, the Bavarian Industrial Association, the Goethe-Institut, and the Arab-German Friendship Association, emphasizing Egypt's aspiration to expand this model nationwide.

The Minister explained that this partnership represents the beginning of a fruitful path that opens up broad horizons for Egyptian youth, strengthens national industries, and deepens the bonds of friendship between the two countries. He praised the significant role played by Ambassador Mohamed El-Badry and his team in Berlin in making this cooperation a success.

In conclusion, the Minister said, "Reaching this moment, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, is the result of long-standing cooperation. We are working to equip our students with skills according to international standards, which will significantly contribute to supporting our industries in Egypt. Furthermore, students will have training or employment opportunities in Germany and return home with valuable experience, while others will continue their journey in Egypt, embodying these distinguished educational standards. This is a shared gain for all."

During the signing ceremony, the Ministry of Labor participated with a recorded speech by Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labor, in which he emphasized that this step is an extension of the process of dialogue and joint coordination and an embodiment of the distinguished bilateral relations fostered by the political leadership of both countries. He emphasized that the agreement will contribute to providing decent job opportunities for Egyptian youth and meet the needs of the labor market in Bavaria for skilled workers.

In his speech during the signing ceremony, Ambassador Mohamed El-Badry, Egypt's Ambassador to Berlin, emphasized that the Letter of Intent represents a milestone in Egyptian-German cooperation, explaining that it is the culmination of years of fruitful joint efforts.

The Ambassador indicated that the Letter of Intent will contribute to the transfer of pioneering German expertise in technical education and vocational training to Egypt, supporting the country's vision of preparing a new generation of youth with the competitive skills and capabilities to meet the needs of both the Egyptian and German markets.

This event builds on the visit of the Minister-President of Bavaria to Egypt and his meeting with the Prime Minister in October 2024, during which they agreed to implement field cooperation programs in the fields of education and training.

The partnership focuses on preparing and qualifying Egyptian technical education graduates by equipping them with advanced technical, professional, and linguistic skills, in line with the requirements of the diverse and evolving Egyptian labor market, as well as the German labor market, which is characterized by precision and industrial innovation.

The cooperation also aims to support student exchange programs, expand German language teaching in Egyptian schools, and enhance cooperation in the fields of information and communications technology.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister; Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Development and Head of the Operations and Management Unit of Applied Technology Schools; and Dr. Hanem Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister for International Cooperation and Agreements.
