Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received today, at the headquarters of the Ministry’s General Court, the child Omar Zaki, a student in the second grade of primary school at Al-Muhammadiyah Islamic School in Al-Mansour City, Dakahlia Governorate, in order to honor him in appreciation of him after obtaining the first place in the world in the international mental arithmetic competition held in Taiwan. .
This came in the presence of Nasser Shaaban, Director of the Directorate of Education in Dakahlia Governorate, the mother of the child, and Professor Muhammad Farouk, a mathematics expert at the Ministry's General Office.
Dr. Reda Hijazi conducted a parental dialogue with the 7-year-old student, Omar, in which he praised his level of intelligence and the role of his family in nurturing his talent.
He pointed out that investing in people from childhood and developing talents is at the top of the ministry's interests, as it is one of the most important priorities directed by the political leadership.
In this context, the minister explained that the strategy announced by the ministry since the beginning of the school year included developing talents and nurturing them through implementing the Day of Activities in schools nationwide, during which different talents are discovered in cooperation with the ministries and concerned authorities.
Dr. Reda Hegazy directed the preparation of an integrated file on the student, Omar Zaki, in preparation for his care during the next stage and the investment of his talent, within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the need to pay attention to the talented, discover them, and nurture them.
It is worth noting that student Omar Zaki received a free scholarship from Mansoura University due to his unique talent in performing complex arithmetic operations since the age of four. The Academy of Scientific Research at the university was addressed to exclude him from the 9-year application age requirement for the international mental arithmetic competition of UNESCO, which included 100 contestants. At the global level, which was immediately approved by the university, and he was awarded a robotics course at the Faculty of Engineering at Mansoura University.
