The Minister of Education is discussing with the head of the Competition Protection Authority the promotion of cooperation to educate students about the concept and culture of competition protection
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mumtaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority for Protection of Competition and Prevention of Monopolistic Practices, in order to discuss ways to enhance aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the field of spreading awareness of the culture of protecting competition.
Dr. Reda Hegazy appreciated the role of the Competition Protection Authority and the Prevention of Monopolistic Practices in establishing and applying the rules of free competition and exposing practices harmful to the national economy, as well as creating a trade and investment climate based on fair competition.
The minister emphasized that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education is working to address issues with a new idea based on sustainability, and this was translated by integrating societal concepts and issues into the curricula, stressing the importance of educating students on the concept of protecting competition.
For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mumtaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority for Protection of Competition and Prevention of Monopolistic Practices, said that protecting competition represents a basic support for the national industry, attracting more investments to the Egyptian market, and achieving equal opportunities between the various economic sectors.
He added that the education sector, and everything related to it, is among the priorities of the agency, as it concerns a wide segment of citizens, indicating that the agency aims to spread awareness of the culture of protecting competition and preventing monopolistic practices.
The meeting reviewed the activation of cooperation mechanisms between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Competition Protection Authority. It was also agreed to hold meetings via video conference technology with directors of educational departments in various governorates of the Republic to spread awareness of the culture of protecting competition, as well as providing students with its concepts.
