Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the “Equal Educational Opportunities” conference, organized by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, headed by Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of heads of public and private universities.
Dr. Tarek Shawky expressed his happiness to participate in this conference; Which aims to review the efforts of some ministries and their contribution to supporting social justice policies, equal educational opportunities for students who are unable, and raising the level of government, community and technical education.
The minister stressed that the Egyptian state has taken many measures and achieved achievements, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, during the past seven years, towards achieving the principle of equality and equal opportunities, and supporting the weakest groups, the most nurturing families, people with disabilities and women at all levels; In implementation of what was approved by the Egyptian Constitution; Noting that the Egyptian state, with all its institutions, has committed itself to taking all necessary measures to eliminate all forms of discrimination, and to implement the principle of equal opportunities in all fields, especially educational opportunities.
Dr. Tarek Shawky said that education is the real gateway to a better future, and the Egyptian state has invested in its children by building a new modern education system with international quality standards. Available to all citizens of the country with equal opportunities; In order for our students to enjoy a better future; And in order to transfer their homeland, Egypt, to the ranks of the major countries.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education attached utmost importance to achieving the principle of equal opportunities; A unit for equal opportunities was established in the Ministry’s general office, along with 27 equal opportunities units distributed in all educational directorates at the level of the Republic, branching out to 288 units in all educational departments, in addition to the unit’s coordinators in schools in various stages of general and technical education and those with special abilities; This is in support of the fifth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is concerned with gender equality, and working to create an institutional framework to follow up on the implementation of equal opportunities.
The Minister explained that in this context, the Ministry worked to activate the National Strategy for Women Empowerment 2030 through extra-curricular activities implemented by equal opportunities units in various educational directorates. Promote gender equality and equal educational opportunities through cooperation with the World Food Program.
The minister said that within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to complete the support of Takaful and Karama students from the school to include students who joined universities, institutes or technical education as well, funding has been allocated to equal educational opportunities for students who are unable and not enrolled in a Takaful program with a total of 1.5 million children at different levels of education. .
He added that the ministry has taken many measures in order to reduce the educational burdens on the first-career families, as the ministerial decision on school expenses was issued, including exempting children of martyrs, breadwinners, divorced women, community and one-class schools, special education and those dependent on a solidarity and dignity pension, as well. One million children from the most caring families were added, noting that coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity was coordinated to build programs and curricula for children in nursery school, and to train teachers on modern teaching methods, and the new curricula offered by the Ministry within the framework of the new education system 2.0.
At the conclusion of his speech, the Minister expressed his sincere thanks to the organizers of this distinguished conference, and all the ministries that provided sincere support to the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in order to achieve the principle of equal educational opportunities, wishing all participants in this conference success, and holding rich and successful discussions on His interlocutor, and come up with recommendations that emanate from real work programs that can be implemented.
