The Minister of Education meets with a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ)
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, today received Mr. Andreas Adrian, Director of the Technical Support for Comprehensive Technical Education (TCTI II) Project and Coordinator of the Technical Education Sector at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and his accompanying delegation. The delegation discussed ways to enhance cooperation in developing technical education and applied technology schools to meet the needs of the local and international labor market.
During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Technical Education expressed his thanks and appreciation to the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the fruitful strategic cooperation that has resulted in achieving many goals in developing the technical education system. He expressed the Ministry's aspiration to continue this cooperation in the coming period, contributing to achieving the state's goals and plans to develop modern technical education that keeps pace with labor market requirements.
The Minister pointed out that the political leadership prioritizes technical education as a pillar of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030, and the pivotal role this sector plays in building the Egyptian human capital and developing their capabilities.
The Minister explained that the state has succeeded in changing societal perceptions of technical education by implementing the Applied Technology Schools model, which has become a pioneering experience that combines theoretical learning and practical training within a real work environment. He noted that this model has contributed to restoring confidence in technical education as a distinct path that provides real opportunities for learning and employment.
The Minister emphasized that the Egyptian private sector is a key partner in implementing the Applied Technology Schools model, actively participating in the management and operation of these schools and providing practical training for students within real work environments, ensuring the qualification of highly qualified graduates.
The Minister added that the Ministry is rapidly pursuing partnerships with various countries in applied technology schools, with the aim of granting graduates accredited international certificates in accordance with international standards, enabling their skills and abilities to meet the needs of the local and international labor market. He explained that cooperation protocols have been signed with Italy and Finland to launch applied technology schools in various specializations, as part of expanding international partnerships to develop technical education and link it to labor market needs.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif noted that the Ministry aims to strengthen cooperation with the German side to launch new applied technology schools in accordance with German standards in technical training and education, ensuring the transfer of global expertise and quality experiences to the Egyptian system.
For his part, Mr. Andreas Adrian, Project Manager for Technical Support to Comprehensive Technical Education (TCTI II) and Technical Education Sector Coordinator at GIZ, praised the fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Education, noting that the agency places great importance on technical education sectors due to their strategic impact on economic development.
Mr. Andreas Adrian stated that technical cooperation with the Ministry of Education is a top priority, emphasizing the agency's welcome to expand areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
