The Minister of Education is discussing with a delegation the "Teacher Excellence Initiative" project
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with the delegation of the “Teacher Excellence Initiative” project, headed by Robert Bowers, Director of the USAID Office for Education and Health. To discuss programs that enhance teachers' capabilities and skills.
The minister expressed his appreciation for the continuous and constructive cooperation with USAID in many educational projects at the pre-university level, stressing the ministry's aspiration for more aspects of cooperation to serve the educational system in Egypt.
Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed that the Ministry has launched many initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the capabilities and skills of teachers, which is directly reflected in the advancement of the educational level of students and the educational system in the country, indicating that the colleges of education are an integral part of the development process due to their direct responsibility for preparing teachers, stressing the importance of Aligning their preparation programs with the national reform efforts, the requirements of the current stage, and the new curricula; to apply best practices in this regard.
For his part, Robert Powers, Director of the Office of the United States Agency for International Development for Education and Health, praised the tangible results of developing education and improving its quality in Egypt, expressing the agency's pride in the partnership with the Ministry of Education in many areas, including training programs aimed at achieving sustainable development for teachers, and stressing the readiness of The agency to provide all aspects of support for the development of the educational system in Egypt.
Robert Powers presented the Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI), which aims to build teachers' capacities and enhance their skills; To support student learning and the development of Education Reform 2.0 in Egypt, by providing teacher preparation programs before service and during teaching, in addition to improving the quality of teacher education in Egyptian universities.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to prepare a tripartite memorandum of understanding that includes the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Supreme Council of Universities, and to form a committee specialized in coordinating the project, and includes the Central Administration for General Education, the Professional Academy for Teachers, and the Central Administration. curricula, and the general administration for educational leadership affairs.
It is worth noting that the Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI) project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Education Development Center (EDC), targeting 15 Egyptian governorates with an estimated budget of $50 million.
