Within the framework of the directives of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education, met with Mr. Yu Ping, Head of the Human Resources and Social Security Department at the Chinese Zhucheng Municipal Office. To discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of technical education and vocational and technical training between Egypt and China.

The meeting was attended by the Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Lu Chun Sheng in the Educational and Scientific Department, Engineer Sherine Farag, Director of the Dual Education and Training Component and the Orientation towards the Green Economy in the GIZ Employment Support Project, and a number of officials and experts from both sides.

Dr. Muhammad Mujahid expressed his happiness with this strategic partnership with China, stressing the importance of technical education as a key factor in achieving sustainable development and keeping pace with global challenges. He also stressed the Ministry’s desire to benefit from the successful Chinese experience in this field and apply best international practices and standards.

Dr. Mohamed Mujahid pointed to the success of the “Loban Workshop” model that was established at the Advanced Technical School for Maintenance Technology as evidence of this fruitful partnership, praising the importance of the partnership with the private sector in technical education schools, which began about 6 years ago with the establishment of applied technology schools and their number increases annually.

Dr. Muhammad Mujahid also stressed the Ministry’s commitment to transforming educational curricula into a competency system that builds on implementable skills and serves the needs of the labor market, noting that 231 competency-based curricula have been developed as an important step in this direction.

For his part, Mr. Yu Ping praised the close relations and friendship between China and Egypt, expressing his appreciation for the efforts made by the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education in developing and modernizing the Egyptian educational system and providing education and training opportunities for Egyptian youth, stressing the Chinese side’s readiness to provide all support and assistance to enhance cooperation. In the field of technical education between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Chinese partner invited the Egyptian side to attend the Belt and Road International Skills Competition (BRISC), which will be held in the town of Zhongxing in China in late June 2024, which will be a unique opportunity to enhance competitiveness among participating students, and deepen cooperation in Many skills.

The Chinese partner also invited the Egyptian side to participate in the technical education exhibition accompanying the International Skills Competition (BRISC) in China at the same time, which will allow students to display their skills at the global level with their counterparts from participating countries.

The two sides expressed their aspiration for further cooperation and agreed to continue discussions for more practical agreements, which provide great care for talented technical education students and provide them with the necessary skills to excel in a constantly developing world.

It is worth noting that the number of skills hosted by China is 18, and Chongqing is a center of economy, finance, scientific and technological innovation, shipping and trade, and is considered a strategic hub for the country's development program in addition to being a linking point for the Belt and Road Initiative.
