Dr. Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met today at the Ministry's General Office, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Muzaini, Director of UNESCO's Regional Office for Science in the Arab Countries, to discuss joint bilateral cooperation between the Ministry and UNESCO.

The attendees discussed ways of cooperation between the Ministry and UNESCO in training teachers and upgrading their level, especially since they are the mainstay for implementing the new educational system 2.0, which builds students’ abilities and acquires various life skills such as problem solving, creativity, discussion, work and critical thinking.

During the meeting, Dr. Tarek Shawky confirmed that the Egyptian state has adopted the national project for the development of education, which aims to prepare a new vision for the educational community as a whole, so that the student becomes more interested in learning and innovation, as well as efforts to develop education curricula, to cope with the increasing requirements of the labor market, both at the local level. or international, as well as enhancing and developing skills among young people and youth, noting that many countries requested to be informed of the developments of the Egyptian experience in building a modern education system with international standards.

Shawky reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry in developing educational curricula since 2017, when the Curriculum Development Center developed the curricula for kindergarten and first grade, up to the fourth grade of primary school, according to a vision based on the idea of ​​sequencing and scientific accumulation, and in line with international standards. This is done in cooperation with experts and international partners, including the World Bank and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

For his part, the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Science in the Arab States welcomed the cooperation with the Ministry of Education in developing the educational process, expressing his full readiness to provide support to the Ministry through the Technically Enabled schools project, as well as assistance in qualifying and raising the efficiency of teachers through a series of Digital training courses that guarantee the continuity and quality of professional development.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Muzaini praised the boom in the education file in Egypt, and the upgrading of Egyptian culture and society, saying: “We look forward to benefiting from the Egyptian experiences, in supporting the activities and programs of the organization during the coming period, especially since the Egyptian experience is the only one that deserves to be focused on at the summit of transformation.” Education, which will be held in New York next September.

The Director of the UNESCO Office in Cairo also expressed continued support and assistance in establishing the Egyptian Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation for Technical and Technical Education (Itqan).
