Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Dr. Fadia Saadeh, Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East and North Africa at the World Bank, and her accompanying delegation. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation and explore new horizons for collaboration in pre-university education.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the Ministry's efforts over the past period, emphasizing that the focus has been on addressing the chronic challenges facing the education system, which hinder any development. These challenges include addressing the problem of student overcrowding, bridging the teacher shortage, and ensuring regular student attendance. The Ministry also restructured the secondary stage in accordance with international standards, enabling teachers to provide quality instruction in the classroom with a number of credit hours for core subjects.

Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif explained that the Ministry is committed to continuing to develop the education system in all its aspects. He also noted the Ministry's intention to incorporate programming principles into the curricula to keep pace with developments in various global education systems.

For her part, Dr. Fadia Saadeh, Regional Director of Human Development for the Middle East, affirmed the Ministry of Education's support through cooperation projects and joint programs. She expressed her aspiration to build on the fruitful partnership and provide further support to implement the Ministry's strategic plan.

She also commended the Egyptian state's interest in human development and its commitment to prioritizing it as the foundation for building a productive society. She thanked the Minister of Education for his pioneering efforts in developing the education system and affirmed the World Bank's readiness to provide technical support and continue the strategic partnership with the Ministry in this field.

The meeting included discussions on ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry and the Bank in existing areas related to the Egyptian Education Development Project, ways to improve literacy and numeracy skills for students in primary education, professional development for teachers, and the completion of programs and agreements concluded between the two parties.
