The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Ruben Haroutounian, Public Diplomacy Advisor at the US Embassy in Cairo, and Ms. Amira Awad, International Relations Coordinator.

The signing of this protocol comes within the framework of the Ministry of Education's vision to develop the pre-university education system and enhance internationally recognized university readiness programs, most notably the relaunch of the SAT test in Egypt beginning next June.

During the signing ceremony, Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif emphasized that the cooperation with College Board represents a qualitative shift in the Ministry's strategy to prepare Egyptian students to compete regionally and internationally. He noted that the partnership aims to provide fair and diverse educational opportunities that meet the needs of all students.

The Minister continued that the return of the SAT exam to Egypt, one of the most important tests in the United States, after a hiatus of more than four years, reflects confidence in the international education system in Egypt and the restoration of the accredited and integrated American education system, which should be compatible with internationally recognized assessment mechanisms.

The Minister pointed out the importance of carefully selecting exam centers to ensure the selection of reliable and qualified institutions, ensuring the smooth running of exams and in accordance with the highest standards of integrity and privacy. He emphasized the importance of exchanging information related to centers, while fully preserving the privacy of student data and adhering to the laws governing it.

For his part, Dr. Matthew Chovanec, College Board's Regional Director for Southwest Asia and North Africa, affirmed his keenness to cooperate with the Egyptian government, emphasizing that College Board is committed to supporting Egyptian students and enabling them to access the best higher education institutions around the world. He noted that Egypt represents a promising education market, and that the College Board is keen to be an effective partner in the development of Egyptian education.

The College Board's Regional Director for Southwest Asia and North Africa emphasized that improving the quality of American education in Egypt is a shared priority between the College Board and the Egyptian Ministry of Education.

The protocol stipulates the official relaunch of the SAT exam in Egypt starting in June 2025. Both parties commit to supporting students seeking admission to universities inside and outside Egypt through the test, and to identifying the centers where the tests will be administered.
