During his presidency of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Educational Research and Development in its new formation:
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Educational Research and Development in its new formation. To discuss the agenda of the Board of Directors and work mechanisms during the coming period.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with this meeting with the Board of Directors of the National Center for Educational Research and Development with its new formation, stressing that the new formation is a good addition to the educational system, wishing them all success in the tasks assigned to them during the coming period.
During the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed that the National Center for Educational Research and Development is the research arm of the ministry, directing the center to conduct field research with multiple objectives; Among them is a diagnosis of the existing status of schools, in addition to evaluating the experimental applications of some units of the new curricula in Egypt's rural and urban governorates.
In this regard, Dr. Reda Hijazi directed the Educational Research and Development Center to provide the Central Administration for Curriculum Development with the results of these researches. To be taken into account when preparing curricula and to make the necessary modifications before circulating them.
Dr. Reda Hegazy indicated that the center plays an important role in surveying the opinions of teachers from all categories and disciplines regarding the general framework of the curriculum after completing the first draft, and making the necessary amendments.
The minister added that the center plays an important role in conducting qualitative research through focus groups and interviews with representative samples of students of different ages. To learn about their preferences of the subjects that are included in the different curricula, such as Arabic, English, etc., as well as their role in expressing an opinion regarding the evaluation of the units.
The minister also stressed the importance of conducting action research related to real problems in education and not limiting it to master's or doctoral research or promotion.
The minister said: "The education system includes several axes, and the focus should not be on one axis without the other, in order for the system to be complete and real development to take place, explaining that the first axis centers around the teacher and his professional development, and the second axis is the school environment, as there is no education without A school, the school is the real place for teaching and learning and it must be attractive to students. As for the third axis, it is concerned with the curricula, as the ministry is now preparing to set the general framework for the preparatory stage curricula, in which local Egyptian and international experiences will participate, in light of the primary stage curricula, taking into account Consider successful models.
During the meeting, the agenda of the Board of Directors held on 12/27/2022 was approved, the minutes of the previous Board of Directors held on 15/5/2022 were approved, and the investment plan for the research year 2022/2023 was considered, and the research plan was approved. In this regard, the minister stressed that the topics included in the plan should be re-introduced in the light of actual needs that contribute to solving obstacles and challenges in the field, provided that they are in the light of real needs.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of a scientific committee for research in accordance with the executive regulations of the center.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister for Technological Development, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, Counselor Ashraf El Sayed, Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Mandour Abdel Salam Fathallah, Director of the National Center for Educational Research and Development. Dr. Ramadan Mohamed Ramadan, Director of the National Center for Examinations and Educational Evaluation, and Dr. Zainab Khalifa, Director of the Professional Academy for Teachers.
