Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, to enhance ways of cooperation and discuss mechanisms for joint work with regard to child protection programs and support of their rights, within the framework of the national initiative “Empowering the Egyptian Child.”
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy welcomed the attendees, praising the fruitful and constructive cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. In order to improve the child’s quality of life, follow-up and measure the impact.
The Minister explained that the Ministry is cooperating with all ministries and concerned authorities, in implementation of the state’s strategy for sustainable development, within the framework of which cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood comes in implementing the “Empowering the Egyptian Child” program.
Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed the Ministry’s keenness to cooperate with partner agencies to provide all aspects of care for our children, pointing out the importance of school activities as they are an integral part of the educational process, as they give the student strength of personality, the ability to express, presentation skills, taking responsibility and other life skills.
The Minister also stressed the need to pay attention to the phenomenon of Internet risks in early childhood, and how to address them, in addition to the interest in promoting positive education at this stage, stressing that the Ministry of Education is implementing special bags for positive education within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to pay attention to developing the personal aspects of students.
For her part, Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, thanked Dr. Reda Hegazy for providing support and cooperation with the Council to care for children and preserve their rights, praising its integration programs and training packages, as they were worked on in cooperation with the Ministry through the implementation of the initiative in Several governorates, such as: “Sohag, Ismailia, Giza, Assiut, Marsa Matrouh, and Al-Arish,” in addition to cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and the National Telecommunications Authority to create messages to raise awareness of the dangers of the Internet, noting that a strategy for positive education has been prepared in cooperation with UNICEF, which targets school students.
Dr. Nevin Othman also spoke about the “Dawy” initiative, which aims to build capabilities at the governorate level within the education system in educational directorates and schools to introduce the initiative as extracurricular activities, noting that a number of concepts have been added to the initiative, such as the concept of positive education, stressing that the council aims to expand. In the initiative in the border governorates, she added that there was cooperation with the Ministry of Education in implementing a number of activities, including activities on “Children and Climate Change.”
The meeting discussed training teachers participating in the “DOI” initiative to increase the impact of the initiative within the education system through a cooperation protocol between the two sides regarding the interactive activities of the “DOI” initiative.
During the meeting, it was agreed to provide topics such as “The School is a Development Unit” and “Green Learning” in school activities, in addition to forming a joint committee from the Council and the Ministry for follow-up, and implementing a new mechanism to organize the “Child Reporter” competition from all governorates with the support of UNICEF.
The meeting was attended by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood: Engineer Shahinaz Sheta, technical advisor to the Secretary-General of the Council, engineer Suzan Jamal, member of the Technical Office of the Secretary-General, Fatima Bashir, member of the Technical Office of the Council, and Hussein Ahmed, a researcher in the Council.
On the part of the Ministry of Education, Professor Randa Halawa, Head of the Central Administration for Addressing Educational Dropouts, Amin Al-Desouki, Director-General of Cultural, Artistic and Social Activities, and Mahmoud Hajjaj, Director-General of the General Administration for Support and Communication, attended.
