“Education” launches an African School Football League in cooperation with Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Football Association
Within the framework of the support and patronage of Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, President of the Egyptian Federation for School Sports, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, with sports activities and keenness on developing and building the capabilities of students and nurturing the talented among them; To prepare them to compete at the global level, in implementation of the vision of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, and his directives to pay attention to school sports, the African Schools Football League Championship was launched today for the first time, qualifying for the North African Championship under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Egyptian School Sports Federation ; To encourage students to exchange cultures on the Arab, African and international levels.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, opened the tournament and welcomed, in his speech, the attendees, governorates and teams participating in the tournament, pointing out the importance of the role of sport in developing students' skills, exchanging cultures and getting to know the other.
Dr. Ashraf added that the tournament aims to promote the game of football in Africa, organize tournaments for the continent and encourage the practice of football in all its forms through all regions of their country, stressing the commitment of all participants to good conduct.
For her part, Dr. Eman Hassan, Vice-President of the Egyptian and Arab Federation for School Sports and Head of the Central Department of Student Activities at the Ministry of Education, said that this tournament is taking place for the first time in Egypt and is a positive step for students to compete with the North African region and then qualify for the African Schools Championship; She emphasized the political leadership's interest in African relations and the development of relations between African countries.
Dr. Iman indicated that this tournament targets school students, boys and girls, for the age group (13-15) and students who are accustomed to attending school regularly, and the tournament is implemented in three stages.
The national stage and qualifying for the North African qualifiers, the North African stage, and the continental stage.
Dr. Iman Hassan added that the governorates that qualified for the finals at the level of the Republic are (South Sinai, Luxor, Dakahlia, Sharkia, Port Said, North Sinai, Beheira, Greater Cairo), wishing them all success.
This came in the presence of Dr. Amr El-Haddad, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Sonia, Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Director General of Specific Federations, and members of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian School Sports Federation, Dr. Mohamed Saad, Dr. Jihan Allam, Dr. Ahmed Hassan, and Dr. Zahra Salim, the technical supervisor of the School Union, and a number of leaders from the Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports, and from the Football Association, Captain Shaaban Bastawy, and Dr. Hatem Samir.
