Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, accompanied by Mr. Jürgen Scholz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cairo, inaugurated the first Egyptian-German school in 6th of October City this morning, Thursday. This school is part of the Egyptian-German Schools Initiative, a new educational model in partnership with Germany. This step represents a qualitative shift towards modern education that combines national identity with international standards.

In his speech at the event, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his happiness at the opening of the first Egyptian-German school in 6th of October City, Giza Governorate. This school is the fruit of constructive cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany within the framework of the initiative to establish 100 Egyptian-German schools across various governorates of the country, and a pioneering step towards strengthening the educational and cultural partnership between the two countries. He emphasized that the Egyptian state seeks to provide distinguished educational services to our students at a level of quality consistent with international standards, enabling citizens to effectively contribute to the social and economic development of their country and to compete regionally and globally.

Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif emphasized that, in light of the directives of a wise political leadership that attaches great importance to the education system and embraces education as a top-priority national project, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education is launching the Egyptian-German Schools Initiative, starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative represents a new educational model that combines international standards with national identity. The initiative is being implemented in partnership between the Ministry and the German Embassy, with support from the Goethe-Institut and the Central Administration for German Schools Abroad in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Minister stated, "This school represents a shining example of the integration of distinguished German expertise in the field of education with the ambitious Egyptian vision to build individuals capable of creativity, innovation, and competition in various aspects of life." He explained that these schools will be managed by the Egyptian side, while the German side will provide the necessary support through consultations and expertise, in addition to monitoring and evaluation activities related to a range of educational, methodological, and administrative aspects. It will also include professional development for teachers through the implementation of training programs aimed at enhancing the quality of education and learning outcomes.

The Minister explained that the Egyptian-German schools represent a qualitative shift in Egyptian education, as they are part of an initiative targeting the establishment of 100 schools across the country's governorates. This initiative is aligned with the state's strategy to develop the pre-university education system through advanced educational concepts that focus on quality outcomes and human development.

In this context, the Minister indicated that the initiative is being launched through this school, which represents the first Egyptian-German schools in Egypt. This is to ensure quality and accurate implementation before expanding to open new schools in various governorates. He emphasized that this initiative seeks to prepare distinguished graduates whose skills and capabilities keep pace with the rapid global developments in the field of education.

The Minister reviewed the education system, explaining that Egyptian-German schools operate according to an integrated educational system that begins in kindergarten and continues through secondary school. These schools operate as full-time schools, encompassing all grades, and adopt a full-day school system. All educational studies have confirmed that the full-day system allows students to combine academic achievement, develop life skills, and comprehensive educational activities, as well as the physical ability to adapt to practical life after school. Upon graduation, students receive an Egyptian General Secondary Certificate or Egyptian Baccalaureate, in addition to a German language certificate accredited by the Goethe Institute. This opens up ample opportunities for students to study and train in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Minister also emphasized that this school is not merely an educational institution, but rather a bridge for cultural and intellectual communication, and a gateway that opens broader horizons of knowledge, science, and technology for our children. He said, "We are certain that this project will be a starting point for further fruitful cooperation in the educational field, and a seed of goodness that will produce creative generations who will contribute to building the future and support the path of sustainable development in our beloved homeland, Egypt."

Concluding his speech, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the German side for its sincere desire to contribute to the development of the educational system, especially since Egypt requires the concerted efforts of all sincere efforts at this stage. He also extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to bringing this project to fruition, expressing his hope that this school will be the beginning of a series of joint achievements, and that Egypt and Germany will remain a model of fruitful cooperation in the fields of education and human development.

For his part, German Ambassador to Cairo Jürgen Scholz emphasized, "Today is a special day for relations between Egypt and Germany in the field of education, and it is also particularly special for the children who are experiencing their first day of school here."

Ambassador Jürgen Scholz added, "This school is the result of the determination of the Egyptian Ministry of Education combined with a courageous and forward-looking vision. I congratulate all participants – especially the parents and children – on the beginning of this new school year."

The German Ambassador continued, "The 100 Egyptian-German schools are more than just an educational project: they are a real opportunity for a diverse and hopeful future."
