Minister of Education Participates in Japanese Embassy's Celebration of Emperor Naruhito's Birthday
Within the framework of the distinguished relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and Japan, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated today, Thursday, on behalf of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, in the celebration held by the Japanese Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan.
Upon his arrival at the venue, which was held at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador in Cairo, the Minister was received by His Excellency Ambassador Fumio Iwai, in a gesture reflecting the depth and strength of the distinguished bilateral relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and Japan.
During his participation in the celebration, the Minister conveyed, in his address, the sincere greetings and appreciation of the leadership and people of Egypt to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, along with heartfelt wishes for his continued health, success, and prosperity during the Reiwa era, an era that embodies the meaning of beautiful harmony. He emphasized the depth of the friendship and strategic cooperation between Egypt and Japan, two countries boasting ancient civilizations deeply rooted in history, each cherishing and taking pride in its history and distinctive culture, while also prioritizing sustainability.
The Minister stated that Egypt and Japan are always striving towards a bright future and believe that tradition and innovation should go hand in hand.
In his address, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stated, "Under His Majesty the Emperor's reign, Japan continues to embody the values of dignity and stability, working to consolidate the foundations of peace and international cooperation. His Majesty's symbolic role—as a symbol of unity—reflects the strength of a nation that respects its past and reshapes its future with calm and confident resolve." He emphasized that the strategic partnership between Egypt and Japan is based on these same principles.
He explained that cooperation between the two countries extends to several fields, from economic development and cultural exchange to education, which is paramount in the two nations' shared history. Japan has been, and continues to be, a reliable and inspiring partner in supporting Egypt's efforts to develop and improve its educational system.
The Minister of Education pointed out that cooperation in education between the two countries is clearly evident, from Egyptian-Japanese schools to broader initiatives in technical and higher education. This reflects a shared belief that education is the foundation of national progress and the preservation of human dignity.
The Minister continued, stating that what distinguishes the Egyptian-Japanese partnership is not only its scale but also its spirit—a spirit of mutual respect, practical cooperation, and a long-term vision. He said, "As we celebrate His Majesty the Emperor's birthday, we also celebrate the enduring friendship between our two countries; a friendship built on trust, strengthened by shared values, and inspired by a common commitment to building a better future for our peoples."
The Minister of Education concluded his remarks by expressing his hope that the ties between Egypt and Japan would grow stronger and more prosperous year after year, saying, "On behalf of the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, I extend my sincerest congratulations to His Majesty the Emperor and express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the friendly Japanese people."
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hani Helal, Secretary of the Egyptian-Japanese Partnership for Education; Ambassador Mohamed Abu Bakr, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs; a number of senior officials; members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Arab Republic of Egypt; representatives of international organizations; and a host of public figures, business leaders, and representatives of educational and cultural institutions.
