The Deputy Minister of Education is following up the training course on the training bag for environmental concepts and climate issues
In the framework of the directives of Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, in the field follow-up of the activities of the training program (ToT) on supporting the skills of teachers and principals in developing students’ awareness of climate changes in light of the requirements of sustainable development, which will be held from 8 to 11 August this year, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Deputy Minister of Education, the conduct of the training on the training package, which includes discussing the concepts of the environment, and the main climate issues, such as (climate changes, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability).
During his meetings with the trainees, Hegazy stressed the importance of transferring training experience to Egyptian teachers, applying it on the ground and reflecting this in students’ behavior through correct environmental practices characterized by limiting the negative effects of climate change, preserving resources and the rights of future generations, and that the trainees adopt creative methods. and innovative in developing students' awareness of environmental issues.
He stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Education to translate global trends on environmental issues and climate change into educational activities that emphasize the interaction and positivity of students to provide them with knowledge, attitudes, skills, positive environmental behaviors and desirable values that are consistent with the education curriculum for sustainable development, and to avoid traditional educational practices that do not develop skills. Students are not encouraged to think scientifically about the problems they face in their daily lives, and these trends are clearly in line with the strategic objectives of education contained in the National Strategy for Sustainable Development "Egypt Vision 2030".
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, witnessed yesterday the opening session towards launching the largest training and awareness program on the concepts of climate change issues, through two training bags, one for teachers, and the other for managers.
The preparation of this training package and the training of teachers on it comes in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and Egypt’s hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2022, from 7-18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh.
