Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, issued a periodical on organizing a competition to interact with climate change issues, within the framework of Egypt's success in hosting the "Climate Summit 2022" "COP27", on climate change issues, which is currently being held in Sharm El-Sheikh. .
The periodical stated that the ministry decided to organize a competition at the national level, entitled "An Environmentally Friendly School"; With the aim of interacting with issues of climate change and biodiversity according to the following: General controls: The competition is divided into three stages (at the level of schools, groups, individual participation) and for each stage of study (primary, preparatory, general secondary, technical secondary) under the supervision of the Director Administration/Directorate, responsible for environmental, demographic and health education in the school, head of the department in the educational administration, and director of administration in the directorate.
The winning works at the level of each directorate will be sent to the General Department of Environmental, Population and Health Education in the Ministry no later than Thursday 12/22/2022, which is the last date for receiving the final results of schools, groups, and individual participations. To take the necessary measures for the final qualifiers at the level of the Republic for each educational stage of the competition (the results of the final qualifiers will be announced later). The competition, and (20 points) are allocated for each criterion, and the participating groups in the second stage consist of (3 to 6) students for each academic stage.
The text of the periodic book stated that the first stage: At the level of schools (general / technical), competition takes place between schools within the educational administration, and liquidation takes place between departments; To choose the winning school that represents the educational directorate - for each educational stage - so that the filtering takes place at the level of the Republic according to the following criteria: the percentage of green spaces, the extent to which teachers integrate climate change issues in teaching curricula, the school’s general cleanliness and adherence to school uniforms, and the school’s commitment to separating waste; For ease of reuse and recycling, measures taken to rationalize consumption of energy sources (electricity and water), and finally, the school organizing seminars in cooperation with the Council of Parents and Trustees; To raise awareness of the negative effects of climate change.
As for the second stage: group participation: competition takes place between groups in each school, then at the administration level at the same stage, then at the directorate level; to choose a team for each stage; To compete at the level of the Republic according to the following criteria: drawing a banner (banner) that expresses the negative effects of climate change, submitting a research project on the causes of climate change and the expected effects on Egypt, and evaluation elements (title - objectives - steps of implementation - the extent to which goals were achieved - difficulties that faced implementation - The time period it took to implement the project (development and sustainability proposals), and a school radio program is being prepared; To raise student awareness of the phenomenon of climate change, with a maximum of five minutes, and the elements of evaluation (time commitment - good performance and quality of recitation - containing meaningful paragraphs - diversity of topics on the phenomenon of climate change - diversity of students presenting to the radio - clarity of voice).
As for the third stage: individual entries: competition takes place between students of each stage in each school, and escalation at the administration level, then at the directorate level, according to the following criteria: drawing a banner that expresses the negative effects of climate change, and submitting a research project on the causes of climate change And the expected impacts on Egypt, and evaluation elements (title - goals - steps of implementation - extent of achievement of goals - difficulties encountered in implementation - the time period it took to implement the project - proposals for development and sustainability), and designing a model, device or tool for alternative energy uses to reduce the phenomenon of climate change .
