Minister of Education Holds Meeting with French Ambassador)

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting today with Mr. Eric Chevalier, French Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries and support academic exchange.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Development; Dr. Hanem Ahmed, Advisor to the Minister for Protocols and Agreements; Ms. Amira Awad, Ministry Coordinator for United Nations Organizations; and from the French side, Mr. David Sadoulet, Advisor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs; Mr. Daniel Renault, Cultural Attaché for Educational Cooperation; and Ms. Clémence Vidal-Delablache, Country Director of the French Development Agency.

During the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif emphasized the importance of strengthening educational cooperation between Egypt and France, in order to achieve the Ministry's goals of developing the education system and expanding learning horizons for Egyptian students.

The Minister pointed out that this cooperation is not limited to the teaching of the French language, but extends to include the transfer of French expertise in developing educational curricula, training teachers, and implementing the latest interactive teaching methods.

He also emphasized the importance of taking advantage of available educational opportunities in both countries, noting that cooperation can contribute to improving the quality of the educational process in line with global changes.

For his part, the French Ambassador expressed his country's keenness to support joint educational initiatives and expand the scope of French language teaching in Egypt.

The French Ambassador indicated that his country views Egypt as a strategic partner in the educational and cultural fields, affirming France's commitment to supporting the training of Egyptian teachers through advanced qualification programs that ensure mastery of the latest French language teaching methods, achieving the highest quality standards in the educational process.

The two sides discussed a number of topics aimed at developing educational cooperation between Egypt and France, most notably supporting schools that adopt French as a first language. The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in the "TREFLE" project to develop French curricula and raise the professional level of French language teachers.

Plans to establish new French schools in Egypt were also discussed. The Ministry aims to establish 100 Egyptian-French schools by 2030. This will be achieved by strengthening partnerships between French educational institutions and the Egyptian government and supporting the Egyptian private education sector to establish schools that implement the French curriculum.

The launch of a special after-school education program targeting 5,000 students in 100 Egyptian schools was also discussed. The program will include French curricula, teacher training, quality assurance, and the provision of the DELF certificate at subsidized prices.

The meeting also addressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of technical and vocational education, as it is a key component of preparing youth for the labor market in accordance with international standards. The Minister emphasized that the partnership with France in this field contributes to the development of technical education curricula, enhancing practical training programs, and introducing modern specializations that meet the needs of advanced industrial sectors.

In this context, the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation to attract French companies to partner with the Egyptian Ministry of Education to launch applied technology schools in various specializations. Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif reviewed the results of his visits to Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as his extensive meetings with the Italian Minister of Education during his visit to Egypt. These meetings focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of partnerships to launch applied technology schools in specializations that meet the needs of the labor market.
