Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Margaret Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission for the dissemination and promotion of the European way of life and the policies of the European Union for migration, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to support cooperation in the field of education and technical education.

Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with this meeting, which supports the multifaceted historical relations that unite Egypt and the European Union, stressing the interest of the political leadership in Egypt in education and its development as the most important pillar of building the character of the Egyptian person and one of the most important priorities for development.

The minister explained that the ministry pays great attention to developing curricula, building the capacities of teachers, and developing the education system through the new system, stressing that real development in technical education is the basis for the progress of countries, adding that the ministry relies in technical education on a strategy consisting of three axes: learning for earning, And learning to join technological universities, and learning to join universities after the equation, indicating that there has been a significant change in the mental image of technical education in society, and there has become a great demand for technical education by students.

For his part, Skinas expressed the European Union's appreciation for the efforts made by the Egyptian state in the education file, especially with regard to the education development project, as well as the development of technical education, stressing the European Union's readiness to provide more support to Egypt in light of the priority that Egypt represents for the Union, and within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two sides.

Skinas also pointed out the union's keenness to deepen cooperation between the European Union and Egypt in the fields of skills and education, as Cairo is the region's center of gravity and an important strategic partner. Job opportunities, skills development, and assistance in all aspects of education to serve all the elements participating in the educational system.

During the meeting, aspects of cooperation for current projects with the European Union in the field of technical education were reviewed, such as the project to promote sustainable energy and vocational training within the framework of the initiative to promote technical education and vocational training. Through this project, three centers of excellence were established, and 20 technical education schools were rehabilitated and equipped. A chapter on the establishment of a branch of the Academy of Technical Education Teachers, the installation of solar panels in a number of schools, as well as the “ERASMUS” projects, which include the two “Activ-Ats” projects that focus on capacity building for teachers of applied technology schools, and the “Compete-Egypt” project that focuses on developing curricula. Capacity building for teachers and school quality, in addition to a project to support and develop technical education and vocational training "Tvet2". Future projects were also discussed with the European Union.

Aspects of cooperation in future projects with the European Union in the field of technical education were also discussed, including the expansion of the establishment of applied technology schools and making them available in various governorates of the Republic, the conversion of a number of commercial education schools into hotel education schools, as well as the comprehensive reform of the five-year advanced technical schools. in the agricultural and trade sectors
and tourism.
