The Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Misr El Kheir Foundation signed architectural design contracts to establish two centers of excellence in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Minya and Aswan governorates, and construction and rehabilitation contracts for two technical secondary schools, within the framework of the activities of the project "Enhancing technical education and vocational training for the new and renewable energy sector", in cooperation with the German Development Bank.

This came in the presence of Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Development and Director of the Applied Technology Schools Unit, Dr. Mohamed Refaei, CEO of Misr El-Kheir Foundation, Dr. Saber Hassan, Head of the Education Sector at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, Dr. Mahmoud Diab, Deputy Project Manager, Andreas Dernbach, Director of the "Juba Infra" Project, Mr. Adham Khattabi, Coordinator of the German Development Bank Project, Dr. Mohamed Saleh, Designer, Strategic Planner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of IDG Company, the architect of the Aswan Center of Excellence, and Dr. Osama El-Husseini, CEO and Co-Founder of BECT Company, designer of the Center of Excellence in Minya.

For his part, Dr. Ayman Bahaa El-Din, Deputy Minister, stressed that the government is keen to develop the education system in general and technical education in particular, noting that the past period witnessed the completion of the ministry's strategy to develop the technical education system.

The Deputy Minister added that the centers of excellence are an important part of the strategy to develop technical education, extending his thanks to Misr El-Kheir Foundation, the strategic partner of the Ministry of Education.

For his part, Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Development, confirmed that the centers of excellence were carefully selected according to the geographical distribution and the development map for Egypt 2030, as the supporting industries in each geographical region were taken into account to assist industrial and economic activities in that region.

Dr. Amr Basila added that the centers of excellence will play an important role in graduating technicians who are distinguished by their skills and technology in the economic fields that support and influence the Egyptian economy as a whole, noting that the ministry is working according to specialized studies in cooperation with civil society, the private sector, and development partners for technical education from the European Union and America, especially in the fields that the labor market needs from workers in the region.

Dr. Amr Basila explained that the ministry is working in each geographical region to find the appropriate partner to qualify and educate students to obtain suitable job opportunities in the surrounding environment, in addition to working to add these specializations to technological universities to obtain a specialized certificate.

He praised the role of Misr El Kheir Foundation, which has a long history of supporting the educational process and providing a distinguished educational service, stressing the partners' keenness to have Misr El Kheir as an integral part of these centers.

Dr. Mohamed Refaei, CEO of Misr El Kheir Foundation, stressed that Misr El Kheir Foundation supports all the state's steps to develop the education system, noting that the foundation places education at the top of its priorities, considering that the education sector in the foundation is one of the largest and most important sectors, as it aims to contribute to establishing an advanced education system that builds an innovative generation.

Dr. Mohamed Refaei pointed out the importance of the project to establish centers of excellence in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Minya and Aswan governorates, explaining that the project aims to contribute to achieving national requirements to ensure the quality of education, with a focus on technical and technological education, which helps in the comprehensive development of society.

Dr. Mohamed Refaei explained that the project provides high-quality educational opportunities in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, which enables young people to enter the local and international labor market efficiently, and graduates generations capable of keeping pace with technological developments, thus meeting the needs of giant projects that keep pace with the Egyptian government's vision 2030.

Andreas Dirnbach, Project Manager of Juba Infra, stated that the contracts target two vital areas to support technical education and job prospects for young people in Egypt in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. The project aims to increase technical and human capacities in technical education in the renewable energy sector in Egypt by establishing three new centers of excellence and rehabilitating existing technical secondary schools.

Andreas Dirnbach explained that the contracts include the design of centers of excellence, the first in New Aswan and the second in Maghagha in Minya Governorate, and construction and rehabilitation works for two schools, namely Al-Taybi Technical Secondary School and the Zein El-Abidin Center of Excellence.

He pointed out that the TEREEE project is a pioneering initiative that aims to enhance the renewable energy sector in Egypt by developing the capabilities of the technical workforce and qualifying them to deal with current and future technological challenges.
