The Minister of Education explains the Ministry's plan to confront the teacher shortage
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, revealed the Ministry’s plan to confront the teacher shortage, noting that although the current number of teachers is 843,490 teachers distributed across Egyptian schools, the deficit has reached 469,860 teachers, who pose a major challenge to the Ministry of Education. .
The Minister of Education confirmed, during the press conference held in the Council of Ministers in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, that his field visits to more than 10 governorates, and the dialogue he conducted with many directors of educational directorates and departments, made action to confront this challenge as quickly as possible. The Ministry’s priorities in the coming period.
The minister said that the ministry is continuing to implement the presidential initiative to appoint 30,000 teachers annually, an initiative that has met with great success and has injected new blood into Egyptian schools.
The Minister added that the Ministry will work to activate the Service Extension Law, which is Law 15 of 2024, in order to benefit from the experience of teachers who have reached retirement age, but they have the experience and ability that will enable them to continue for many more years.
The Minister also indicated contracting with 50,000 teachers per share in various educational departments according to their need, while directing the departments to redistribute quota shares for subjects and teachers to avoid the waste that some departments complain about.
The Minister revealed the use of graduates to perform public service in cooperation with the Ministries of Higher Education and Social Solidarity, while increasing the actual time period for teaching from 23 weeks to 31 weeks, in addition to increasing classes by 5 minutes, which increases teaching capacity by 33%.
