As part of his participation in the Global Education Forum 2023 in London, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the fifth plenary session of the Forum, which was held under the title "How should we balance compliance, innovation and creativity among learners?"

Dr. Reda Hijazi made an intervention during the session, stressing that various countries of the world aim for their students to be talented and creative while providing all means to achieve this, which is not achieved with traditional curricula and achievement tests.

In this context, the minister affirmed that Egypt places the development of educational curricula in the various stages at the top of its priorities, indicating that the ministry focused in developing the curricula on achieving learning outcomes and learning major concepts, cross-sectoral concepts, and engineering and scientific practices, with a focus on students' capabilities and talents, developing them and investing in them.

Dr. Reda Hegazy added that artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and genetic engineering will change the shape of the world and the functions of the future, indicating that in order for creativity to appear, the curricula must not be limited to content and textbooks only, and the focus must be on learning outcomes and not just achievement tests.

The minister explained that education has evolved to move from memorization and repetition to innovation and creativity, and from reliance on others to self-reliance and knowledge production. A lifelong journey, and technology must be integrated into the education program and technology should not be presented separately, in order to take into account the humanization of education.

Dr. Reda Hegazy added that Egypt has a pioneering experience in caring for outstanding students, which are the schools of excellence for science and technology, whose curricula depend on learning outcomes and integration between them, not textbooks, in addition to teaching based on projects and capstones, then the TOC concept test and the URT readiness test, to come out The student possesses research skills that prepare him to implement solutions and major projects in light of the challenges facing Egypt, such as pollution, population increase, and other challenges.

This came with the participation of Elizabeth White, Director of the British Council in Egypt, Shaimaa Al-Banna, Head of the Science Department at the British Council, and Dr. Rasha Kamal, Cultural Attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Britain.

On the sidelines of the session, Dr. Reda Hijazi met with Gillian Keegan, the British Minister of Education, Andrew Mitchell, the British Secretary of State at the Foreign, International and Commonwealth Department, as well as Paola Boni-Vis, the Cameroonian Minister of State responsible for teacher training at the Ministry of Secondary Education, and Mohamed Ali Al-Boughdiri, the Tunisian Minister of Education.
