In the presence of the Minister of Education and Technical Education and the Minister of Solidarity Celebrating the graduation of the first batch of El Sewedy School of Applied Technology
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Nevin El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Mamdouh Ghorab, Governor of Sharkia, and Eng. Mohamed Zaki El-Sewedy, President of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, witnessed the graduation ceremony of the first batch of students from El-Sewedy School of Applied Technology, which was held this evening, Monday, in the city. In his speech, Dr. Tarek Shawky welcomed the attendees, stressing that the system of applied technology schools, which the Ministry started to establish since September 2018, aims to form an integrated educational system capable of developing technical education in Egypt and making it keep pace with the best technical education systems in the world, by preparing curricula Sophisticated based on a competency methodology to keep pace with the real needs of the labor market, and qualifying teachers according to the latest systems and standards through accredited trainings by experts from inside and outside Egypt, which will necessarily lead to the preparation of qualified graduates to keep pace with the various disciplines needed by the local and international labor market.
Dr. Tariq Shawky pointed out that the development of technical education is an investment in human capital to ensure a prosperous future for economic development plans, explaining that the ministry seeks to launch more schools of applied technology in various economic and service fields, with new specializations that address future professions, in order to allow The opportunity for a larger number of students to enroll in these schools, which represent the schools of advanced technical education.
The Minister concluded his speech, expressing his happiness at the graduation of these students, who are truly the nucleus of change in the society’s view of technical education graduates, which needs tangible evidence that proves the efforts made by the Ministry to develop the skills of technical education graduates, and present a new image of the Egyptian technical education graduate, through Implementation of an integrated educational system based on a competent teacher and a passionate student, and new curricula based on a merit-based system that combines the theoretical and practical aspects, and periodic assessment processes, in addition to the participation of industrial partners in all of the above processes of selecting teachers and students, preparing curricula, and evaluation periodic and continuous; With the aim of preparing qualified professional cadres to join the labor market upon graduation, capable of advancing industrial development in accordance with Egypt’s 2030 vision.
For his part, Eng. Muhammad Zaki Al-Suwaidi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the ministers, governors and all those attending the celebration for their keenness to share the school’s students and their parents with the joy of graduation, expressing his pride in his graduate children, who have become a role model in society.
Al-Suwaidi stressed the success of the pilot applied technology schools’ experience in developing the technical education system in Egypt, within the directives of the political leadership towards developing the quality of education and linking it to the needs of the labor market and building the Egyptian person, wishing the school graduates success in their future working lives.
The vision of the El Sewedy School of Applied Technology is mainly focused on graduating a generation capable of managing the national industry through learning, preparation, training and qualification for the labor market; In an effort to support various industrial and investment disciplines, and to localize major technological industries, school students are trained in the field within the factories of the industrial partner (Al-Suwaidi factories).
School students spend three academic years, and graduates obtain two certificates, the first is a diploma in applied technology from the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and the second is from the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (the accreditation body).
The first batch of graduates of the "Al-Sewedy School of Applied Technology" includes 123 students in the fields of mechanics and electricity. The school was established three years ago in the village of Derb Negm in Sharkia Governorate and is sponsored by the Al-Suwaidi Foundation for Development, and supervised by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, as part of the state's directions towards supporting the school system applied technology.
During the ceremony, the oath was performed for the students of Al-Suwaidi School of Applied Technology, class of 2022, and a documentary film about the students was shown during their presence at the school, and an artistic paragraph was presented. At the end of the ceremony, certificates were handed over to the graduate students.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister for Technical Education, Dr. Mona Ayoub, representative of the Arab-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Salma Al-Bakry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Balanced Education Company, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, Director of the Operational Unit and Management of Applied Technology Schools, and a group of Public figures, officials, heads of banks and economic institutions, factory owners, and a number of representatives of diplomatic missions and international bodies in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
