The Minister of Education adopts a plan to advance educational activities to prepare the integrated personality: the first Egyptian National Olympiad to discover student talents

Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, approved a plan to develop the work of the services and activities sector in the ministry within the framework of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the sustainable development strategy, Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the vision of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which targets education and training for all.
The plan approved by the Minister aims to build the integrated personality and unleash its potential to the fullest extent for an enlightened, creative, proud and responsible citizen who accepts pluralism, respects difference, is proud of his country’s history, is passionate about building its future and is able to deal competitively with regional and global entities.
The plan includes launching the services and activities sector in the ministry, the initiative to establish the National and African Olympiad in sciences, arts, literature, sports, tourism and antiquities, which seeks to discover talents in the mentioned fields among Egyptian school students, support and develop them in a scientific manner, developed and implemented by senior professors specialized in Egyptian universities, consultants and mentors of subjects and activities.
The Olympiad, which is launched in various governorates of Egypt, including village schools in which a decent life project is implemented, aims to develop students’ love of exploration, adventure, research, knowledge and curiosity, enabling them to acquire decision-making skills, solving problems, developing their spiritual and moral values, and discovering, developing and refining students’ talents and talents in all fields. And encourage it, in addition to creating a spirit of cooperation and participation and a sense of the importance of the role of the individual in the group and the importance of the group to the individual.
The Olympiad also aims to provide the opportunity for students to express themselves freely and unleash their vital energies within the framework of correct educational values ​​and ethics, develop the spirit of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, and invest free time in purposeful and constructive educational activities that serve the individual and society, develop the spirit of cooperation and enhance positive behavior of students.
The Olympiad initiative depends on the optimal use of infrastructure, human resources and available capabilities such as libraries, theaters, halls, laboratories, exploration centers, educational complexes, camps and sports facilities.
Ilham Ahmed, Head of Services and Activities Sector, said that the Olympiad will contribute to the development of a modern methodology that will be the cornerstone of the system of educational extra-curricular activities, scientific, cultural, physical, literary, artistic, theatrical, musical and entrepreneurship, so that it is integrated with the curricula of classroom activities to achieve the desired educational goals.
