Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the launch activities of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, for the National Strategy for Early Childhood Development in Egypt (2024-2029), which is organized by the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and in the presence of Dr. Hala. Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Saleh Al-Sheikh, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, Engineer Nevin Othman, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and Dr. Maya Morsi, President. The National Council for Women, Mr. Jeremy Hopkins, representative of UNICEF, Mr. Carlos Oliver Cruz, head of the Migration Organization in Egypt, Counselor Amal Ammar, Assistant Minister of Justice for Human Rights, Women and Children, and a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness at this celebration, thanking the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood for its continued efforts to come up with this important strategy, implement the National Plan for Childhood and Motherhood, protect children, and combat violence against them in all its forms and manifestations.

The Minister stressed the importance of integration with all ministries, agencies and civil society organizations, in implementation of the state’s strategy for sustainable development, noting that the Ministry of Education includes 25.5 million students in 60,000 schools, and the Ministry’s strategic plan for 2024-2029 is “Education for Life... and Education for the Future.” “The Ministry is concerned with three main areas: women, children, and people of determination.

The Minister pointed out that early childhood is the golden years of a student’s life, where intelligence grows at the highest rate, explaining that paying attention to this stage is an investment in the child and supporting his abilities to learn and innovate, and neglecting this period affects the student’s academic future.

The Minister said that there are no official tests for children from the first to the third grade of primary school, according to the philosophy of the education system, adding that in continuation of the process of developing the education system, which began by developing the primary stage and its curricula in accordance with international standards, the general framework for developing the preparatory stage curricula was established, which aims to Improving the quality of life of students and their families, and students’ production of information and knowledge, noting that the Ministry is focusing during this period on discussing the development of the secondary stage and pathways in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Minister pointed out the Ministry's interest in special education and integration in schools, explaining that 22 new signs for deaf and hard-of-hearing students have been put in place, the most frequently mentioned in textbooks in the book on values and respect for others, and guidance boards for these signs have been put up in all schools in the Republic.

The Minister also stressed the Ministry's interest in positive education and focusing on developing the personal, mental and emotional aspects, thus enabling the student to develop himself throughout life.

The Minister also referred to community schools to address the phenomenon of dropout from education as an important axis of the Ministry’s strategy, in addition to the Ministry’s interest in human rights and equal opportunities through the Ministry’s General Administration for Human Rights.

The Minister said that the Ministry of Education seeks to enhance ways of cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and to discuss joint work mechanisms with regard to child protection programs and support for their rights, within the framework of the national initiative “Empowering the Egyptian Child,” explaining that training workshops have been implemented for teachers. Extracurricular activities and social workers at the Ministry; With the aim of consolidating knowledge and skills about behavioral problems and how to deal with them, and promoting positive behaviors in children.

The Minister affirmed the Ministry’s endeavor to provide support to the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood to care for children, in addition to forming a joint committee from the Council and the Ministry to follow up, and implementing a new mechanism to organize the “Reporting Child” competition from all governorates with the support of UNICEF, as well as activating integration programs and their training packages. In several governorates, the Ministry is also working in cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood to train teachers participating in the “Dawy” initiative, which works to achieve many goals, including raising children’s awareness and enabling them to express their opinions freely.

The Minister stressed the Ministry’s keenness to ensure the implementation of child protection mechanisms and measures in the educational institution, in accordance with the legislation in force in the country and stipulated international agreements, as well as providing a safe school environment to protect children, in addition to raising the efficiency of workers in the educational field in the field of child protection, and coordinating with the authorities. concerned with ensuring the rights of all children in educational institutions.
