Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, chaired the Supreme Council for Pre-University Education. This is at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss the plan for the new academic year 2024/2025.

During the meeting, the Council approved the Ministry’s strategy for restructuring secondary education, confronting student densities, filling the teacher shortage, and the time map for the new academic year 2024/2025.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the attendees, stressing that the Supreme Council for Pre-University Education has a pivotal role in participating in decision-making and supporting the educational process.

The Minister reviewed the Ministry's strategy that was presented to Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, related to addressing the current challenges represented in (student densities in classrooms - bridging the deficit in the number of teachers - high rates of absence in schools - restructuring secondary education).

The Minister explained that the strategy developed by the Ministry comes within the framework of truly crystallizing solutions and mechanisms that suit the nature of each educational administration on the ground, following a number of successive visits and meetings that were held with directors of educational departments in more than 10 governorates.

The Minister also reviewed the time map for the academic year 2024/2025, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, corresponding to September 21, 2024, and end on Thursday, corresponding to June 5, 2025, with a number of 35 weeks, and the curricula are distributed over the two semesters.

The first semester is scheduled to begin from September 21, 2024 to Thursday, January 23, 2025. Exams for the first semester will begin on Saturday, corresponding to January 11, 2025, and the second semester will begin on Saturday, corresponding to February 8, 2025, until Thursday, corresponding to June 5. 2025, with the start date for exams for the transfer classes and the preparatory certificate being on Saturday, 5/24/2025.

As for technical diploma exams, they begin on Saturday, May 31, 2025, and high school exams begin on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Mr. Muhammad Abdel Latif explained that the mid-year vacation will extend for two weeks, starting on Saturday, corresponding to January 25, 2025, and ending on Thursday, corresponding to February 6, 2025, provided that these dates include all the various stages of education for public, official, and private language schools.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the members of the Pre-University Education Council praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Education and its proactive steps to improve the educational process, prepare an attractive environment for students, and provide all means of support to the teacher, stressing their support for all executive mechanisms that the Ministry will undertake during the next phase to work on Developing the educational system.

Al-Azhar Institutes, representative of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Dr. Hanan Moussa, Head of the Central Administration for Studies and Research at the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, representative of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Sami Dhaifullah, who is in charge of managing the work of the Head of the Education Sector, representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Nasser Shehata, advisor to the President of the General Authority for Investment, representative of the Ministry of Investment. and Foreign Trade, Dr. Alaa Azouz, Head of the Agricultural Extension Sector, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Dr. Muhammad Al-Maghrabi, representative of the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Mr. Ahmed Sayed Hussein, Head of the Human Development Sector, representative of the Ministry of Finance, and Ms. Asma Khader Abdel Hamid, Director General of the Development Budgets Sector.
