The Minister of Education and Technical Education witnesses the graduation ceremony of the second batch of students from El Sewedy School of Applied Technology
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, witnessed the graduation ceremony of the second batch of students from El Sewedy Applied Technology School in Dyerb Negm, Sharkia Governorate, which was held at the Education City Theater on the 6th of October.
This came in the presence of Nevin El Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Eng. Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, Hassan Shehata, Minister of Labor, Eng. Mohamed Zaki El Sewedy, President of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Dr. Salma El Bakry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Education First Foundation, Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister for Technical Education, Dr. Amr Basila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Applied Technology Schools Operational Unit, Jan Noether, Executive Director of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and a number of Egyptian industry leaders.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy thanked the ministers for their keenness to participate in this celebration, saying: "The presence and interest of the ministers in this ceremony is an indication of the Egyptian state's interest in technical education and confirms its role and impact on the economy of the Egyptian state," stressing that it is enough for us to be proud that some foreign countries have asked for the help of graduates of these schools to work outside Egypt, so we should all be proud of them because they will make a difference.
Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with the students who have reached the international level with the successes they have achieved, pointing out that this success and the skills of the students from the Applied Technology Schools achieve Egypt’s vision 2030 in a practical way and also reflects their ability to compete, which is the desired goal that the Ministry of Education always seeks.
Dr. Reda Hegazy pointed out that technical education receives a great and strong demand from students, and this is due to the strong demand of students for applied technology schools, while they obtained a greater total than enrollment in general secondary school, indicating that these students also have the opportunity to complete their education path by enrolling in technological universities or enrolling in academic universities after conducting the equation.
The Minister of Education confirmed that the Applied Technology Schools and El Sewedy Schools of Applied Technology changed the mental image of technical education in Egypt, directing the work of an alumni association for these young people as it predicts a bright future for them.
The minister added that there is an "Itqan" body for accreditation and quality, which is an indicator of the Egyptian state's conviction in technical education, and there is an academy for training teachers of technical education, stressing that the teacher is the backbone of the educational process, and there is no development of education without upgrading the teacher, adding that the education strategy is moving at a steady and clear pace.
The minister also explained that the partnership of private sector businessmen in managing and operating technical schools focused on the practical aspect and practical training, indicating that businessmen participated in evaluating students in the practical aspect, in addition to the ministry's application of the competencies methodology.
The minister congratulated the students on their success, wishing them that this success would be the beginning of greater and greater successes in the future, stressing that the country expects them to work hard and continuously strive towards the advancement of society and the achievement of the desired renaissance.
Dr. Reda Hegazy also paid tribute and appreciation to Engineer Mohamed Zaki El Sewedy, President of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, for his effective role and influential efforts in supporting efforts to develop technical education through the El Sewedy School of Applied Technology, pointing out that the social responsibility of businessmen's enterprises plays a major and influential role in supporting strategies and plans to achieve sustainable development.
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Zaki Al-Suwaidi thanked and appreciated the ministers, governors and all attendees for their keenness to share with the school students and their parents the joy of graduation, expressing his pride in his graduate children, who have become a role model in society.
Al-Suwaidi emphasized the success of the pioneering applied technology schools’ experience in developing the technical education system in Egypt, within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s vision towards developing the quality of education and linking it to the needs of the labor market and building the Egyptian person, wishing success to the school’s graduates in their next practical life.
For her part, Salma Al-Bakry stressed that success has criteria and that today represents a model for the success of the Applied Technology Schools system, through the solidarity of all the participating parties.
Salma Al-Bakry reviewed the indicators and statistics of the success of the school’s students, as she praised the fact that three students from the school won the first positions at the level of the Republic this year.
For his part, Jan Noether, Executive Director of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, expressed his pride in the students who possess many talents, praising the solidarity of all success partners in this system, and he also praised the great parents for choosing this field.
He referred to the success of the students and passing them despite the difficulty of the German standards and that it is just a beginning in the way of their future, praising the results of this year in the field of mechanics and electricity. He also thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the school, noting that it is one of the best schools that the Chamber deals with.
It is worth noting that the vision of the El Sewedy School of Applied Technology is based primarily on graduating a generation capable of managing the national industry through learning, preparation, training and qualification for the labor market. In an effort to support the various industrial and investment disciplines, and to localize major technological industries, the school students are trained in the field within the factories of the industrial partner (Al Suwaidi factories).
Students of the school spend three academic years, and graduates receive two certificates, the first is a diploma in applied technology from the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, and the second certificate is from the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (accreditation body).
The second batch of graduates of the "El Sewedy School of Applied Technology" includes 123 students in the disciplines of mechanics. The school was established four years ago in the Deyerb Negm Center in Sharkia Governorate and is sponsored by the El Sewedy Foundation for Development and the Education First Foundation, and supervised by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, as part of the Egyptian state's efforts to support the system of applied technology schools.
