Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, discusses ways of cooperation with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo
Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Ambassador Cyril Nunn, the German ambassador in Cairo, to strengthen means of cooperation in the field of educational development, and discussed several issues of common interest.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Tariq Shawky welcomed the German ambassador, stressing the close relations between Egypt and Germany.
During the meeting, Dr. Tariq Shawky reviewed with the ambassador the ministry’s efforts in several files, the most important of which is cooperation with the German side in bringing about a breakthrough in the field of public and technical education, and paying attention to training in modern applied technology. To raise the added value of Egyptian education, pointing out that Germany is a major industrial country and has global experiences, especially in the field of technical education, which must be utilized.
Shawky said that technical education is currently focusing on upgrading the quality of the educational outlet to allow students to compete in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and to focus on developing the skills of teachers at a new level in an innovative field that depends on the developed technology, adding that the ministry seeks to raise training to a higher level and higher. A skill that we are able to compete globally.
Dr. Tarek Shawky praised the role of the German Agency for International Cooperation in presenting the dual education development project and supporting partners from different sectors to prepare Egyptian youth, raise competencies, and satisfy the requirements of the labor market.
The Minister praised the international education provided in German schools in Egypt, and the excellence of its graduates with high linguistic and administrative skills.
For his part, German Ambassador Cyril Noon expressed his happiness to meet the Minister, appreciating his efforts in the field of education, explaining that education is the key to progress and future prospects, and in a country like Egypt with a large number of young people, investment in education means at the same time investment in the future. In addition to the Minister’s efforts to benefit from the close relations between Egypt and Germany, and to bring the two peoples closer together.
Cyril Noon emphasized that his country is linked to the close ties of partnership with Egypt for many decades, and there are many German institutions operating in the country and are testimony to this deep, unconventional link in the economic, political and cultural sphere, and that successful German-Egyptian cooperation contributes to building bridges between the two countries. An important contribution to exploiting the talents of the best Egyptian students thanks to the availability of comprehensive programs in the field of education in Egypt, and that his country has taken upon itself over the years to continue expanding these programs.
During the meeting, they discussed Germany's support for several new projects in the fields of education, as it was agreed to deepen and expand cooperation in the education sector and to spread the German language in Egyptian schools through teacher training programs.
This came in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Mujahid, Deputy Minister for Technical Education, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Deputy Minister for Teachers Affairs, Professor Sherine Hamdy, Head of the Central Department for the Minister’s Office Affairs, and Professor Mona Ayoub, Adviser to the Minister for International and Private Education.
