"Education" celebrates honoring the winners of the "Discover History" competition nationwide, in cooperation with the German Goethe-Institut
Yesterday evening, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education honored the winners of the “Discover History” competition for the academic year 2021/2022 at the level of the Republic, within the framework of constructive cooperation between the Ministry and the German Goethe-Institut and with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support and sponsorship of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education. artistic.
For her part, Dr. Randa Shaheen, head of the Central Administration for Public Education, stressed the importance of preparing a national competition aimed at developing historical research skills, as we can, through the study of history, know the truth about events and facts and their validity. They have a great impact on life and are role models for learning outcomes and providing quality education that is consistent with international systems, noting that the idea and philosophy of the competition is based on learning based on research and discovery and the chosen methods do not involve information from history books, as students have to ask questions independently. Encouraging them to search, discover and investigate the history of their surroundings and their immediate living environment, such as: (neighborhood, school, building, tourist center ... and others).
Professor Ashraf Abdel Moneim, Social Studies Consultant, said that the competition was launched during the second semester, from March 15, 2022 to August 15, 2022, for all students, starting from the age of (10 to 17 years) for basic education classes (primary - and preparatory), under the supervision of a teacher. Social studies, and secondary school classes under the supervision of a history teacher, with the participation of more than 4,500 male and female students from all governorates of the Republic.

We are delighted to collaborate With the Ministry of Education, we have taken, through this project, a big step in the direction of Egypt's Vision 2030 to promote scientific thinking and creative skills among the new generation, as they are the builders of the future."
At the end of the events, the result of the competition was announced and the winning students were honored. The student, Shahad El-Sayed Ahmed, from Riyadh Al-Salihin Preparatory School in Damietta, won the first place for her project “Kafr Al-Jadeed Village”. The second place was won by the students, Maryam Akram Saad, Tasneem Al-Hassan Desouky Muhammad, and Rana Muhammad Fadl. Al-Mawla and Suhaila Ashraf Fawzi Abbas from Abd al-Hamid Abd al-Ghafour Preparatory School for Girls in Aswan for the “High Dam” project, and the third place came for the two students, Sarah Tariq Al-Sayed and Fatima Sharaf Zakaria Ali from Al-Amal School for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired in Gharbia for their project “Sabil Ali Bek al-Kabir.” The fourth place was the student Marwa Saleh Al-Jaraihi from Riyadh Al-Salihin Preparatory School in Damietta for the “Damietta Port” project. The rest of the nominated projects from the short list came from the governorates of Alexandria, Giza and Beheira, in addition to the winning governorates of Damietta, Aswan and Gharbia.
This came in the presence of Weflex Hala, Cultural Attaché at the German Embassy, Dr. Anka Boone, Professor of History at Bina University, Mohab Al-Azazy, Project Coordinator, Daniela Decker, Training and Teaching Expert, Dr. Ahmed Hashish, Regional Coordinator at the Goethe Institute, Dr. Walid Sayed Salem, Head of the Social Studies Development Department, and Hind Abdel Nabi, head of the Department of Studies, and mentors of all social studies from the winning governorates.
It is worth noting that a workshop was held in October 2021 over the course of three days at the German Goethe-Institut, and the general framework for the competition and the criteria for selecting the winners were set by trainees, Egyptian and German experts, and representatives of the Ministry of Education.
