Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Professor Carola Lentz, President of the Goethe-Institut, and her accompanying delegation. To discuss a number of projects in the field of studying and teaching the German language in Egypt.

Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness with this meeting, stressing the importance of the Egyptian-German relations, especially in the field of education, and the many areas of joint cooperation in many educational projects. To train teachers through a program to raise the language proficiency of German language teachers nationwide, to train educational leaders, and to develop German language curricula, wishing for more fruitful cooperation through activating new programs; To serve and achieve Egypt's vision for sustainable development 2030, and the strategy of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

Dr. Reda Hegazy affirmed the Ministry's interest in the German language and its teaching in Egyptian schools, and a large number of students are interested in studying it, noting that the Ministry is about to start a project to establish 100 Egyptian-German schools on the model of Egyptian-Japanese schools.

For her part, the head of the Goethe-Institut expressed her happiness with the spread of the German language in Egypt, which contributes to increasing cooperation and relations between the two countries, praising the distinguished cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Goethe-Institut, and stressing that the institute supports the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education with the aim of creating a modern educational system. Based on participation, and meeting the needs of the community, the institute also works to provide continuous training programs for German language teachers.

The meeting discussed the follow-up to the implementation of the agreement signed by the Ministry with the Goethe-Institut in February 2022, which aims to consolidate cooperation in the study and teaching of the German language, the qualification and professional development of German language teachers, as well as the qualification of teachers and school leaders, and the provision of an opportunity for distinguished students to obtain grants for learning the German language. Participation in exchange programs for students and teachers, and dispatching experts in the fields of education.

The meeting also discussed enhancing cooperation in holding training courses on digital learning. To develop teachers' skills and transfer their experiences to their colleagues to ensure sustainability, and to study organizing a competition for students to pass the German language so that the winning students get the opportunity to travel to Germany to encourage them.

Naglaa Zakaria, Director of German Language Development, Susanna Hoon, Regional Director of the Goethe-Institut in the Middle East and North Africa, Sebastian Wouter, Head of the Language Department at Goethe-Institut Cairo, and Dalia Shalaby, Head of Educational Cooperation.
