Today, Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Major General Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo, signed a joint cooperation protocol with the Production Cooperative Association for the Pottery, Ceramics and Refractories, and the National Charitable Investment Fund for Education "Education is Life"; To establish the "Al-Fawakhir Secondary School for Applied Technology", affiliated to the Old Cairo Educational Administration, in Cairo Governorate.
The signing of the protocol was attended by Dr. Mohamed Mujahid, Deputy Minister for Technical Education Affairs, Engineer Jihan Abdel Moneim, Deputy Governor for the Southern Region, Dr. Mohamed Emara, Head of the Technical Education and Equipment Sector, Dr. Amr Basileh, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education, Director of the Operational Unit and Management of Applied Technology Schools, and Sayed Fathallah Sayed Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Production Cooperative Society for the Pottery, Ceramics and Refractories, Ashraf Mohamed Ezzat Negm, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the (Education Life) Fund, and a number of leaders from the Ministry and the Cairo Governorate.
Dr. Tariq Shawky expressed his happiness during his speech at the celebration of the signing of the protocol, stressing that this protocol comes within the framework of strengthening aspects of fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Cairo Governorate, the Productive Cooperative Society for the Pottery, Ceramics and Refractories, and the National Charitable Investment Fund for Education (Education). Hayat), where today a joint cooperation protocol will be concluded between these parties; To establish the "Al-Fawakhir Secondary School for Applied Technology", affiliated to the Old Cairo Educational Administration, in Cairo Governorate, and that school will operate in a system that combines both the integrated technology parks system and the dual education system, and applies international quality standards, starting from the beginning of the academic year (2022/2023).
Dr. Tariq Shawky explained that this protocol is a true translation of the vision and directives of the political leadership to preserve crafts and heritage industries, and to support and encourage handicrafts, by opening a technical craft school to teach pottery, and graduating a new generation of distinguished craftsmen, with high technical capabilities, through curricula. Effective, specific disciplines covering the field of pottery, ceramics and refractories.
Dr. Tarek Shawky pointed out that technical education in Egypt witnessed during the last period a great interest from the state, as the (Technical Education 2.0) program was launched, within the new Egyptian education development system, and one of the most prominent features of this program is the development of technical education curricula, according to the competency methodology, And teaching entrepreneurship programs that would enable technical education students to implement their own projects after they graduate and join the labor market.
The minister said that the secret of the success of the applied technology schools’ experience lies in the fact that they are an integrated educational system capable of developing technical education in Egypt, and making it keep pace with the best educational systems in the world, in addition to preparing and qualifying teachers, according to the latest systems and standards, through training approved by experts from inside and outside Egypt, in addition to preparing qualified graduates in various disciplines needed by the labor market.
The minister added that in order for success to continue, the vision of all parties concerned with the educational, training, industrial and service process must be integrated with the ministry, and gain and strengthen community support for it. In order to provide high-quality technical and technological education, raise the level of technical education graduates, and keep pace with the rapid technological and industrial progress.
The Minister of Education added that due to the success of the experiment, and the increased demand of students to enroll in this type of school; The Ministry - under the directives of the President of the Republic to expand the establishment of applied technology schools in various governorates - has opened many of these schools in various disciplines, and fields: industrial, agricultural, commercial, and hotel, which are applied for the first time, bringing the number to (41) schools It is targeted to operate 100 applied technology schools by 2030.
The Minister praised the effective participation of all stakeholders in the service of education and its issues, and the support of the various initiatives of the Ministry, in addition to the pivotal role played by civil society institutions in this framework.
For his part, Major General Khaled Abdel-Al, Governor of Cairo, confirmed that signing a protocol to establish the first secondary school for applied technology to study the pottery industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Cairo Governorate, the National Charitable Investment Fund for Education and the Productive Cooperative Society for the Pottery, Porcelain and Refractories Industry, is a new birth of preserving a craft Historic heritage and its development, and as a continuation of the process of reviving the history of an industry from the ancient Egyptian heritage with the aim of achieving sustainable development in one of the oldest Egyptian industries, and this coincides with the birth of the new republic, in light of Egypt’s Vision 2030 under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Governor of Cairo indicated that today we are witnessing the launch of a new renaissance to revive that heritage with modern tools and techniques in order to achieve development and sustainability in this industry, as the state is keen to prepare a generation of creative artists qualified on modern scientific foundations to work in the ceramics, pottery and refractories industry.
The Governor of Cairo added that the directives of the political leadership to establish a school in the Al-Fawakhir area come as a continuation of the process of industrial development that Egypt is witnessing, including that industry, and the creation of a new generation that carries in its hand the experience of artists from the makers, in addition to a modern scientific basis through a curriculum and systems established by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education With the participation and coordination with the National Charitable Fund for Education, emphasizing a vision for the continuation of this industry to consolidate the distinguished position of the Egyptian industries locally and internationally and to be a new tourist destination to be added to the tourist attractions.
The governor of Cairo stated that the governorate had provided a building inside the village as a school to take advantage of the fertile environment surrounding the pottery industry to advance that industry and contribute to the continuation of the presence of technical cadres working on the development of this industry on scientific bases according to the curricula taught by the Ministry of Education in general and the advancement of the village in particular.
Mr. Sayed Fathallah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Production Cooperative Association for the Pottery, Ceramics and Refractories, said that the association thanks His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and all the attendees; Because of their interest in the digital industry, preserving it from extinction and promoting it, he added that the association is honored to contribute to the educational process to graduate new productive cadres that combine craft and science.
For his part, Ashraf Mohamed Ezzat Negm, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the (Education Life) Fund, expressed that the Fund has the honor to participate in the establishment of the first technical school to teach ceramics and pottery in Egypt. Skilled craftsmen to enhance this craft and protect it from extinction, and the Fund is proud of supporting technical education, as one of the main pillars to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030, by contributing to the establishment and development of applied technology schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.
